the end of a great looong career, its hard for the NFL to lose a type of guy like Jerry Rice but i think it was time, i mean he was gonna be the 4th WR on Denver. Good decision by Rice. Press conference at 1:30 eastern today

its nice that the two greatest WRs can go into the HOF in the same year.

Ah...I wanted to see him pull of another Pro Bowl Year [IMG], anyways, The BEST WR in the history of football has finally taken his pads and helmet off. And he's an obvious hall of famer. Jerry Rice will still be the GOAT in me.

Did he sign with the 49'ers for a day so he could retire a Niner?

While I am amazed that he could still play pro ball beyond 40 years old, if your too old for the Raiders then it's probably time to hang up the cleats.

It's sad to see such a great player leave the game. Just like nflfan said it's the best thing he could have done and I'm happy for him.
