<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">PHILADELPHIA -- Raptors forward Charlie Villanueva jogged on to the Wachovia Center court last night with a huge smile on his face. Just prior to the game, as Villanueva finished his pre-game warmups, a young boy and his father approached the Raptors' highly-touted rookie. Normally players don't want to be distracted just before game time, but Villanueva made sure to take some time and talk to four-year-old Blake Glass and his father Greg. Blake suffers from Alopecia Areata, the same skin disease that Villanueva has had since he was 10. The disease results in hair loss on the scalp and body. And so, for 10 minutes or so, Villanueva sat with his young fan, who wore a Raptors jersey with his favorite player's name on it. "You know, it's a beautiful thing when I can help and I see much of a role model I am to these kids," said Villanueva. "I think everything happens for a reason and I think this happened to me (getting the disease) in order for me to help little kids like Blake." </div> Source
so that explains villanuevea's appearance, i always wondered why he didn't have eyebrows. i guess its not a serious disorder though.
definately good to see that charlie is in the mix with the community... and helping others that has the same disorder he has...
yeah i think i saw that kid in the front row in the sixers game wearing the Charlie V jersey and he didn't have hair kinda looked like charlie lol for a second i thought it could be his child.
I knew Charlie did something for the kid seeing as the boy resembled him, had his jersey at a game in Philly and was cheering for the Raptors. It's really great to see things like this happening.
so i should probably take back the "e.t. resembling dude" putdown. anyways, i've been teased my entire life for my physical appearance and i don't even have a congenital disorder.
He is a rookie and rookies never get mad when someone comes to talk with them. I am hoping he will always stay like that and never act like Carmelo did against the fans. IMO Charlie seems like and overall good guy.
