<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Does not having Tracy McGrady in three of those games really affect the Rockets that much? There is no way the Rockets should have needed TMac to close out games for them against New Orleans and Orlando, both at home. Losing to Miami was reasonable, but so what if we were facing Boston on a back-to-back? They are regular occurances in the NBA and they shouldn't be an excuse. Raef Lafrentz exposed the Rockets' perimeter defense, and the Rockets were outplayed in every aspect of that game. And we're talking about Boston, a team that many predicted to finish out of the playoffs. </div> Apparently yes it did.......Tmac playing makes this team totally different on defense and offense, and especially when it comes to closing out games.....and yes the Boston game was back to back, but Tmac was injured so I'm sure it effected his game (just like against the Pistons).....I do agree that we should've beat the magic and hornets with or without tmac, but we shouldn't write this team off just yet.....if they're still playing this way by February, then it's time to worry....but we're not even out of November yet.
Who ever posted the "Bill Walton's a hater" comment doesnt know that it's impossible for that man to hate anybody or a group of anybodys. That being said it's disapointing to me that Stromile Swift IMO was brought there to start and he's coming off the bench as one of the most inconsistent players in the league. Pau said he was inconsistent and it sucks that he's bringing that negative energy to a team with high morales after a somewhat (in their minds) a successful Post season with the Mavs. Aside from losing the series, McGrady showed leadership qualities, Yao showed a hint of dominance, and Their bench (-James) showed it's one of the top tier in the league. The only thing dissapointing is Swift IMO
The problem is not we are loosing games, the problem is the way we loose, that means stop talking about T-Mac and Sura injuries. This team has no chemistry, no passion, no motivation, no intensity. JVG MUST BE FIRED or we better start looking to the next NBA Draft. No more excuse please. Last year we were in the same situation: did you forget how many times we went down in the first 3/4 and only T-Mac saved us from a loss? We don't need to be saved, we need to dominate, especially when you have 2 superstars in the team.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting chineseafro:</div><div class="quote_post">Bill Walton isn't a Rocket hater, he's been behind the Rockets ever since Yao has been there, he's always doing interviews and supporting Houston. Rock4life, we're the worst fans? Is it wrong to say that the Rockets are disappointing at this point in the season? It's something thats on everyone Rockets fans minds. Bill Walton did an interview and said it, I'm wondering if people agree or not, and for the most part while the Rockets aren't the worst team in the NBA, they are the most disappointing and the underachieving team of the year so far.</div> hahahaha yeah i know that i was just jokin.
i think they should put lonny baxter into the starting lineup... the guy is tough, physical and works hard. He may not be as skilled as Juwan or athletic as Stromile, but I think he can bring that intensity that the team needs. As for the backcourt.. I don't know what to say - they have no one who can consistently hit a shot. I mean, DA is shooting 33% for the season... Wesley has picked it up but he's shooting 37% overall for the season too..

Right now we have a 3-7 record but we have showed effort and heart the past few games...but when you're missing your starting wing (an All-Star wing at that) and your starting point guard who had done a great job of running the team and committing very few mistakes, then you are going to suffer...the Rockets just have to get through this rut and play hard every night...it's a given that their defense will keep them in games...
The Rockets needs to play as a team. It's just too bad that they're not the the kind of team who can pick up the slack when their good players goes down with an injury. If ever they will, it takes a long time before they can adjust. Turnovers and poor shooting has been killing them. Two of the most important factors that contribute to their poor shooting are, one they always milk the clock and when it comes to the final seconds they always scramble to shoot. Aside from taking poor shot selections it wasted a possible assist(they are last in the league in assist department). The other one is poor positioning in grabbing offensive rebounds. I saw a lot of plays wherein there is no coordination between the Rocket players. When a teammate shoots there is no one boxing out for the offensive boards as if they knew the shots would go in. It results to fewer second chance points and low number of attempts per ball game. I believe the Rockets can still turn around these string of bad games. The season is still young and time will come wherein they will be tired of losing and get their acts together.

I will still stick to my team, I know how they ended up 3-8 and I know it is not because they suck. There are many many reasons you can call excuses, but its up to you ofcourse. I also said this team was unstoppable, and we would never have a slow start, but in the same line I said that was if one of our greater players such as McGrady were not injured. Looks like I was proven right, but wee wont know if I was proven wrong. Man even if the Rockets didn't make the playoffs, I would still watch and support them. It's sports...shiz happens. I still see us in at least the 6th seed.

The Rockets are fine...while I thought they would in fact be the second best team in the West, I didnt imagine all the offensive issues they'd have...I think their defense is solid and is what's keeping them in games, but JVG has to be more flexible and be more creative with the offense...
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Glad to be of service.</div> Thanks. Not that they've played brilliantly with him in the lineup anyway.
at least theirs positives from being overhyped by the media. They've shown the rox games on tnt and espn numerous times on TV.. just great. The only negative is watchin them lose painfully lol
they ARE the most dissapointing...more than the Hawks but not as much as the Rapts...I didn't think they'd lose their games with tracy out...in the 4th Head should be the go-to guy
Thanks for posting my quote.........Now lets look at it. <div class="quote_poster">Quoting ROCK4LIFE:</div><div class="quote_post">I think Igotaskateboard is right on point. The Rockets aren't going to start off17-17. If you haven't noticed, this year we ain't got Charlie "Pre-historic" Ward starting as point guard. Tmac knows his role unlike the start of last year. Yao is more polished than ever. The role players are also alot better than last year. So anybody who thinks we're going to start off horrific isn't being realistic. We might struggle a couple of games, but expect us to start off really solid.</div> I see no contradiction, we've been struggling a couple games, but 17-17 is a far stretch. Thank you Anyway, I don't know about you guys, but I've been really pleased with the effort of the Rockets. Yao hasn't really been as good as expected, but Head has stepped up and landed a spot in the rotation. DA has come around and outplayed Wesley as expected. Bottom line, without our best player we're hurting. However this losing streak is going to be a blessing in disguise. When Tmac gets back, our role players will be ready to contribute. I stick by all my words, and I'm still waiting to see how many of you who've jumped ship come crawling back when we get things rolling. NEVER UNDERESTIMATE THE HEART OF A CHAMPION!

We're 3-11 right now. 14 games is actually 7 "couples" to me. Seems like you weren't right... For us to even get to 17-17, we'll have to go 14-6 the rest of the way, with or without TMac. Anderson has been getting used to being TMac-lite, and everyone would have to adjust to less shots and less playing time, especially Head, Wesley and Anderson. Does that really help the team?

The shots they'll be getting will be off extra passes instead of with a defender hanging on them. With Yao and Tracy, the lanes will open up and be easier to penetrate. It's simple basketball.
Well the upside to this is we not playing like the Texan in the NFL, plus we are better than 2 other teams in the NBA. I still think T-Mac should rest for a game or two more so he could be healthier in mid-season and the late season since we have a lot of 5 games road trips
