We shouldn't play the blame game, it doesn't help the situation. We have one of the brightest futures in the NBA, we really shouldn't be complaining. So you guys really have to lay off Sam and Babs. On the subject of Babs, he did an amazing job with the draft; not to even mention Roko.

The highlight for me had to be Hoffa's D' on Zo. You could see the frustration building on his (Zo's) face as the game went on. Especially liked the frosty reception Zo recieved whenever he touched the ball. Loved it!

I just hope the team can learn from this game and try to keep the momentum going. Who'd have thought Mike James would have this kind of impact, this early in the season.

Wow, how smart of you? [IMG]

Let's say I said this: "Fire Jalen, he's garbage, all he does is chuck up long 2's and 3 balls." I would be right, wouldn't I? But when Jalen actually tries, and goes into the post, he's very hard to stop, and give any defnder nightmares.

You have showcased your arrogance, by consitently trying to put Sam and Babs down, on a topic in which you clearly know nothing about.

hey, im not entirely sold on babs or sam either...i dont know who anyone could be? they've yet to prove or do anything for the raps except charlie V.

sam SEEMS like a good coach, but untill we start winning games, the reality of that is yet to be seen. and so far babs has screwed us in the vince deal, and so far the hoffa draft is a bust. im not sold on either of them yet, and im kinda confused as to why anyone else is?

How could that picture get even more overused then it already is; oh...wait... never mind.

There is nothing wrong with not being happy with Sam or Babs. There is something wrong with having zero tolerance for mistakes. I will use my p jax example. There is no possible way we get above .500, no matter who is coaching us. We are rebuilding, you shouldn't expect to win whilst rebuilding. Lenny Wilkins is a great coach, look what he did with the raptors. Your insistence of hiring a new staff and management, will only make things worse, which should be obvious, and self explainatory.

I never claimed I had all of the answers, or was even remotely intelligent, however I do believe I have an open mind. Which you do not - apparently. I don't see one "big word" in my posts...unless you think arrogance is a big word; which I believe fits you quite nicely. I'm sorry I do not take the time to spell check in a simple discussion - I only have so much time.

Thanks for the vote of confidence fab. [IMG]

Babs has made some really silly moves, and some really good ones. Signing Rafer first seemed like a good idea, didn't pan out, but we got James in return for it, so all in all it was a good move. Calderon is amazing. Charlie I believe now was an excellent pick, same with Joey, and let us not mention Roko, who is by all standards better then Jose. We could not get anything better then two first rounders. Is there anything you'd rather have when rebuilding more then picks? I actually think we did good on the deal. Babs did not screw us, Vince did. By dogging it, the only thing he hurt was us. Hoff is most likely not going to pan out, but I'm reserving judgement on him.

Don't take this as an attack, but i want to know what qualities you think Mitchell has that makes him / will make him an exceptional NBA coach? From my standpoint i would say they are:

    1) Gives his players creative freedome on the offensive end.
    2) Responds well to players concerns and gives them the chance to prove themselves and earn a starting role ... etc..
    3) Straight forward about where the team stands etc... He has realistic expectations and knows what the team has to do to win.

Those are the best qualities i can think of right now ... and while they are pretty good I think the negatives just outweigh them. If i had to generalize overly ... i'd say he's good at larger coaching concepts but bad at the specifics...

I agree with everything you said, but I think I can add a little bit.

    4) Some of the current people have played with Sam, they know what he did on the court, he was sort of like Oakley was to the raptors, diving for loose balls, hustle plays. He leads by example, the philosophy in which he is trying to teach these young kids, like Bosh. You can see the great amount respect KG has for him, when the best player in the league loves you almost like a brother because of what Sam did for him, he has to be doing something right. He is the kind of a guy, that a soft team like Toronto needs.

    5) No nonsense guy like you said, if you are not going to try, or you are a distraction for the rest of the team, you're not going to play. He did a great job in getting Jalen to play last year, by simply benching him. Which I think he needs to do again, as long as it takes to get it through his thick skull, if you didn't come with 101%, you might as well not suit up.

    6) He's still very young, has only 1 season under his belt, considering he got a bunch of failures on a team last year of course besides the young guys, I think he did a very good job. This season he has a roster full of kids. I'm going to say it again, no matter who is coaching, we are not going to win. So I do not think you should judge sam's by W's or L's. Just look at LB's spurs in '88.

I agree, he is lacking in the finer arts of coaching, like set plays. However he is only a sophmore, he deserves more time then that to become a quality coach. I believe he has the motivational skills, and nononsense attitude that when he does become better on the play board, he can be a great coach.

I think an extension of that youth point, is that Mitchell is also pretty open to change. Where as our past coaches had policies that weren't open to interpretation, Mitchell has found a middle ground between being a hardass and a pushover. This is a big improvement from last year. He's already shown the willingness to become a better coach when he acknowledged that the addition of Keady would be helpful, and I see no reason why he can't develop into a good X's and O's coach along with his young players.

If he was such a great coach, why the need to add to his staff then?

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">they are pretty good I think the negatives just outweigh them. If i had to generalize overly</div>

Exactly, whatever he's teaching these guys it sure isnt working. Its time for a change. Bring in someone with more experience. Young players + Inexperienced coach = losing season. Sure he's a no nonsense type of coach. But a no-nonsense type of coach doesnt give in to a player once he starts whining to the media bout PT.

His rotations and player matchups dont make any sense sometimes. I get the feeling he favors Matt Bonner alot since he loves to start him and put him in the game during crunch time.

I guess once Mopete whines today to the media about his lack of PT last night in Phoenix, he'll be playing some heavy duty minutes in LA against the Clips.

His offensive sets are so stagnant and predictable, it was obvious yesterday. Bosh with 2 missed shots and a turnover which cost them the game. Too much 1 on 1 on the offensive side of things with Mitchell's crappy offense.

And yes, Babcock has screwed us. Was it really necessary to buy out Zo for $10 mil? If anything he should have just let Zo sit there and rot and not pay him anything close to that.

    Fire Mitchell. Fire Babcock.

    This is sad.

I never said he was a great coach, I said I think he will be. Please read my post. He gives them PT because if a player is going to cry about it, he might as well let them prove it, give them a few chances to play, and show what they really can do.

I really don't think sam wants Jalen to dribble 5 times on the perimeter and launch a 3 ball. Do you honestly think that's what Sam draws up? Nope, thats why the piece of trash who makes more then the 4 players on the floor combined, that he can't even see on the court. Jalen is rubbish, and it's these garbage players like him that make it so hard to coach. Which is why he sits on the bench so much.

Why do we need 'Zo to waste a roster spot for us? This suggestion of yours is appalling. Zo wouldn't play for us, doesn't matter what happens, so why not waive him and get the roster spot? We only made this trade for the picks, and only the picks. Because VC was averaging around 10 points a game, with a very low percentage. His attitude is what kept people from getting him, whenever you see a player complaining, his value immediately goes down. He even admitted to not trying after the trade. Which shows what kind of a person he is. You are still going to pay Zo the money, whether you like it or not, so why not make the extra roster spot.

Fire everyone, Fabfive is on the block.

Why do you keep talking about Jalen? When did I ever bring him up into the convo? I guess you keep bringing it up because I have a sig thats been here longer than you? [IMG]

By freeing up that roster spot, what exactly did that get this team? Nothing, oh and they had to pay that idiot 10 mil for nothing. Instead of giving in to Zo's demands, offer him a lower number and let him either take it or leave it. Instead he got what he wanted and it screwed this team over. Great trade A+ for Babs, A+ for the coach Mitchell. Theyre doing such a great job.

By the time he "becomes" a great coach, this franchise will have lost its hardcore fans. Cant you see the attendance at
    home declining each game??

Why are you getting all butthurt anyways, Im not the only bashing those two. Gotta love the noobs, come up with some worthwhile and original insults. Youre weak. [IMG]

Forget Rafy for coach, he should run the whole show!

Fire Babcock, Fire Mitchell, Fire Peddie, hire Rafy to run it all!

I talk about Jalen because he is a cancer, we'd be better of having our young guys play.

We did not pay 'Zo really anything, remember the waiver that all teams get? They did the best job they could get with their situation. Vince was averaging 10 pgg on 40% the season before he was traded, you are not going to get anything good for that. We got what we needed, picks. We weren't even affected by Zo, so you're completely wrong here.

There are not many hardcore fans, if you bail on a team just because your team is losing, you are not even a fan, we are in rebuilding mode, not contender. Like I said before, no matter what kind of coach we have, we will not win. So why not get a coach with great potential, and the kind of coach that brings a lot of toughness, and nononsense, in essence the things our soft players need.

Atlanta does not have very many fans, that's because all of the casual fans, who never palyed basketball in their life, leave. Because the team is losing.

I'm sick of your ignorance and arrogance that you always bring up, in menial threads like this, which is why I have to be so harsh with you.

Ok so he's a cancer, he sucks, he takes too many shots, he whines too much, he plays no defence. Kinda sounds like VC last year? No? Again with the obvious.

If you didnt notice this franchise is going the same direction that Atlanta is. And they've been "rebuilding" for how long now? You want the Raptors to be stuck in the basement while we "wait" for Mitchell to show up one day and just make this team a playoff team?

Toronto is a hockey city, the raps have a small fan-base and its getting worse game by game. They need to do something before everyone completely loses interest in this franchise and it eventually has to be moved to another city. I dont know about you but when newscasters are placing bets on their "lose-o-meter" on the 6:30 Sportsnews when it comes to the Raptors, it makes me sick.

Get real, everyone knows time is ticking for your precious Babs and Sam. They might clean house and start with Peddie which is something they should have done last season.

Awww your sick of my arrogance and ignorance? Well cry me a river. Here's something to make you feel better:

My point is that with players like Jalen, it's impossible to win ball games.

Again, it does not matter what kind of coach you have, we are not going to with a bad team like this, doesn't matter who is at the reigns. We are not going to "wait" for Sam, he is already an O.K. coach, all he needs to do is improve on his plays and he's set.

The raps do not have a small fan base. Did you hear how we were 7th or so in season ticket renewals? We are the only team in the country, which gives us a huge advantage over other teams, which probably gives us the largest fanbase in the NBA, because people all over canada are fans, watch the games, and buy merchandise. Even if they don't attend the games, because they are in another province.

I am already "real", thanks. You obviously just dig your hole even deeper everytime you post something.

Thanks for the cookie. I may also add you failed to provide an argument at all. Good game.
