The Packers cut Nick Luchey and Ben Steele today. They signed Donald Lee, at Tight End formerly of Miami, and promoted Vonta Leach from the practice squad to replace Luchey.

I'm surprised the Packers are going with Leach over Luchey. Very interesting...

This was one stupid move, Donald stone hands lee is pathetic, Steele's steele hands are better than stone hands any day! Leach is a good Special Teamer but can he punish linebackers in the rungame I think not, Cutting Luchey at this point and time was the stupidest thing that TT could do, Gosh Im really starting to dislike this SOB.

Looks like Cletedius Hunt could land with the Bengals and the Bears signed J.T. O'Sullivan.

As for cutting Luchey, maybe it's a good thing? The Packers need help on Special Teams and Leach is better in that capacity. Luchey is also more expensive salary cap wise and Henderson is still a very capable and durable starter.

I don't know enough about Donald Lee to comment, but Steele doesn't impress me at all. I'm just glad we have Franks back.

Don't be suprised to see the Lions scoop up Nick Luchey before Sunday's game. With "Sledge" out for six weeks, Luchey just might be a nice stop gap until he returns. Plus his insight on what the Packers will be doing might come in handy. [IMG]

Ben Steele has horrible hands. I mean horrible hands. As for Lee he's got experience as a starter and besides Bubba Franks is #1 and David Martin is #2.

    As for Leach over Luchey.

Leach is younger and a good blocker. Also cheaper. Luchey was suppossed to put William Henderson in reitrement how many years ago? Well he failed. Henderson will probably retire after this season and Leach is a good blocker and as said special teamer.

Henderson won't retire after this season. They'll have to cut him.

Now if Favre retires, that might be a different story. I predict if Favre returns, Henderson will come back too.

Maybe the Packers would have been better off selecting Kyle Orton rather than Aaron Rodgers in the draft.

It's possible. Hindsight is always 20/20. Look at how many teams passed on Tom Brady in favor of "higher rated QB's." They're all kicking themselves now...

I'll be interested to see, over the long haul, if Rodgers or Orton turns out to be the better QB. Given the Packers' interest in JP Losman last year, I'll be keeping an eye on how he develops as well.

Im not sure yet, guess I'll have to see what ol Kyle can do, I did like watching him at Purdue alot though, Rex was pretty good in the few games he played last year.

Yea That question crossed my mine many times. Take Orton later and take a defensive player in the first. Now I was not high on Orton in college. He did choke in some big games but their is no contest that he's performed better than any QB this preseason. Maybe that was the pick to put the Bears over the Packers for recent years.

As for better than Rex. I would say who knows!! Right now if Orton plays well and even gets a 6 or 7 win season out of the Bears. Then you got to go with him for you future but if he flat out struggles then you might still see Grossman. Everything is up in the air right now.

I dunno Charley Frye lit it up in Clevland but Orton did play pretty good ball.
