Quick Recap

    Keys to Victory

The Clippers are a team that like to move the ball and get out on the break, but they also can slow it down and feed the post. They have upgraded their team's perimeter shooting and they've found a nice high basketball I.Q. veteran combo guard (Sam Cassell) that can run the team and deliver in the clutch. It's a team that's more unselfish than they seem.

Elton Brand is a 20/10 player that is a tenacious offensive rebounder, shotblocker, and can score inside. Corey Magette is a scorer that mixes smooth shooting touch with an above the rim game. Look for this guy to pile up points at the line as well. Cuttino Mobley is a decent defender for a guy 6'4, he's super quick, likes to shoot, and he's an underrated passer when he decides to pass. Chris Kaman is an energetic, athletically gifted, fundamentally challenged center that has the ability to score with either hand. They've got a few scorers off the bench like Quinton Ross, Daniel Ewing, Walter McCarty, and Zeljko Rebraca is one of the better veteran scoring centers. Chris Wilcox is quite the player in the open floor from time to time.

The key to victory will be playing some tough perimeter D and being able to control the glass and take advantage of mismatches. Our forwards need to step up their game today because Brand/Maggette are a forward combo that can get to the line, defend, and score in a variety of ways.

Baron Davis has to be able to distribute today and take advantage of the fact Sam Cassell is not very athletic. Cassell is a player that likes to talk a lot, so hopefully Baron won't seen this as a one-on-one challenge to score, but as an opportunity to set up teammates. Jason Richardson will see some action either against Corety Maggette or Cuttino Mobley. If he's got duty on Mobley, it's time to post him up. I would recommend Pietrus/Richardson in the same lineup and possibly put Dunleavy in at power forward on some ocassions.

The clippers might be tough to beat. They've got a few nice additions that have bought into Coach Dunleavy's plan. They're an aggressive rebounding team and they can take advantage of an opponent at the line. A huge catalyst has been Sam Cassell who has provided veteran leadership, terrific fundamentals and scoring at the point.

    Notes

Clippers haven't lost at home yet. Dunleavy is 2 wins and 5 losses against his dad lifetime (www.nba.com/warriors).

I predict the Warriors will lose this one by only a slight margin ("Warriors getting swept last year" factor should keep it close until the very end). I'd say we lose 101 to 98. There's a lot of variables with how well our players are going to shoot today. There's no 50% scorers on our team, we don't really get as many 2nd chance points unless we're trying extra hard and our defensive rebounding has been questionable. Defense has been there so that should keep things close, but if our offense should become stagnant... dribble penetration might not always get those easy shots in the paint and we might not get out on the break that much. Elton Brand definitely has become one of the better all around defending power forwards, especially at his height.

The way Clips are playing right now, it would be really tough game for us. But, I wish we can win this game, because this is the first "we are suppose to lose" type of game, and if we can get W out of it, it will really pump up the whole team...

We really have to play great fro mbeginning to end in this game. From what I've been hearing from Clipper fans, it souinds like LAC has trouble playing well every quarter and in their 2 losses they got smoked by A.I. and Troy Hudson. That means we will need a good game from Baron.

We need to make up for the games we lost. Utah we let slip away (shot below 60% from the foul line, too way too many bad three point shots, and got outrebounded). Bulls we got gyped on that last play and the foul calls by Bill Spooner and morons. Bucks we let that one slip away (Baron Davis was 4 of 21, pass the damn ball it's not one on one time. TJ Ford shoots like crap, but he gets double digit assists almost every game it seems). We shouldn't have lost to Phoenix, not when they didn't even have Amare Stoudamire (we couldn't shoot worth crap that game).

The Clippers had our number last year unfortunately, but I got a good feeling about this game. I am predicting a score similar to the portland game...

    94-82...

I will be the first to admit I underestimated this Clipper's team and their offseason, but their record looks really good. I hope we can take it to them tonight...

Want to bet a $1.00 we lose?

Clippers historically had rosters that looked great on paper, but this time it's great on paper and it works.

I think Senior is probably the X-factor on this... his players really seem to respond to him. I really wish the Warriors could have convinced him to come coach here, might have been tough on Junior at first, but I think in the long run it would have all worked out.

I think it will be a good game. However, I see the Warriors losing by a slim margin due to the fact that they seem to struggle at Staples against the Clips. In addition, the Clippers are actually not underachieving this year. [IMG]

Still, it should be a good game.

16-16. Both teams are running, and if that's the pace of this game, we can match their offense.

26-20. Game gets bit chaotic and that's where Davis can really exploit with assists. Already 9 assists. Richardson is also on with Mobley guarding. All other starters are playing very well as well. Only concern is that Clips are starting to exploit Maggette-Dunleavy match up more...

I'm in LA, and I thought I was finally going to get to watch a Warriors game this season, but then found out it wasn't on Television. Oh well.

I think the clips will win also. One they are at home and they have the Warriors number, but I think it will be close.

W's are rolling on an 18-4 run. Baron already has 5 points and 9 assists, Dunleavy with 4 points 2 assists, and J-Rich with 11 points and 2 rebounds.

Am I reading this right? Baron Davis with 9 assists in the first quarter?[IMG]

I hope Baron and company are coming out in this game to make a statement that they will be fighting for the division...

30pts in the 1st quarter. So much for our defense...

Murphy with the facial? Over who? Or was he the recipient?[IMG]

Pietrus is carving their middle with his penetration. If he ever learns how to control his body after blowing his defender and improve outside jumpers, he will be a superstar.

Gee Barnett, how about being excited by what Pietrus is doing? Once again, Pietrus pentrated and connected with Bierdrin's dunk. And, you thought he just threw the pass and we got lucky? If Dunleavy made that pass, you probably would have a heart attack by now...
