I read your rant and I am surprised you're hating on Nate. He isn't a pure point guard, but is that his fault? In Washington they wanted him to play off the ball more. Do you realize that you can?t change this overnight? I?ll be the first to admit Nate?s decision making hasn?t been good so far, but it?s an adjustment period, especially playing for Larry Brown who demands a lot out of his point guards. While Nate hasn?t been a lock-down defender this season, I thought he?s been solid. He?s pesky, has quick hands, and forces some turnovers. There?s no denying that. And I also don?t understand what you mean by the negative energy he?s brought? When he gets in the game he ignites the Knicks and the tempo dramatically increases. Not even Marbury has been able to push the tempo like Nate Robinson. All of this is an adjustment for a 5?9? point guard adjusting from a vastly different role in college. How can you expect him to do all of this in 10 games? Don?t you think you should give him some more time? Ben Gordon struggled early on in his NBA career, but as we know rebounded and finished second in the Rookie of the Year balloting. Before you behead Isiah and call Nate a bust, give it some more time. Weren?t you about to do the same thing in the summer league when Frye wasn?t looking so good?
the problem with nate is he is a sg in a point guards body who can't ever play the sg role because he's only 5'7". its because of Nate that starbury can't switch over to the 2 spot because nate isn't a pure pg. so in total nate was probably a bad pick for the knincks.

They traded for him. He came in the Q-rich deal. He still can't finish and he has a bad jumpshot but he'll get better. Being small is hard in the NBA. He has to adjust to the nba game. We cant say that Nate doesnt bring excitement and a spark because he does.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting MrJ:</div><div class="quote_post">Before you behead Isiah and call Nate a bust, give it some more time.</div> Wait.... he may have rushed to judgement on Nate Rob but thats no reason not to behead Isiah.
As I said before, playing three years as a shooting guard in college, Nate can't all of a sudden make this transition overnight. Also, why call it a bad pick so early?

Jose is right. We should have drafted Jarett Jack and I too would like to behead Isiah Thomas. Anyway I think Isiah Thomas should be fired.

He's also playing under a demanding coach in Larry Brown. He's improved, too. He's starting to penetrate and give it to the man in the paint. I might have drafted Jarrett Jack on draft night also, but Nate struggling 10 games into his NBA career is no reason to knock him. By the way, did you know according to 82 games, the Knicks play better with Nate on the floor then the Blazers play with Jack?
nate just brings an energy to the game that is so effective he's a great player--and im sure he'll be a effective player in the future but-isnt he a better SG rather than a PG?

Sure Nate may not have the mentality of a true point guard right now but that doesn't mean he can't learn it. Thats what being a rookie is all about learning how to play the game on a professional level. If given the oppurtunity to make mistakes and grow Nate can be a point guard because he has the intangibles to do it.
This thread should never have been made your judging a player on how good or bad he is, by what he has shown you in 11 minutes of action during a nine game span? It is crazy to draw an opinion in that short of a period of time. During the first nine games of his career Dajuan Wagner averaged 17 points a game, and was playing like a rookie of the year candidate for the Cleveland Cavaliers right now he is out of the league. You never know what factors are playing into a players success or lack of success during a short amount of time. Especially when it is the first couple games of his career. Nate was always a showman in college, and he got a lot of playing time so even if he made a erratic play and turned the ball over he would be able to redeem himself later on during the contest. That is not the case in the pros, and even more so under Larry Brown. That is one thing he needs to get through his head once that happens the rest of the pieces will fall in place for him.
Give him time. I don't know if Nate will ever be a starter, but he should blossom into a stellar backup. It even took Boykins a few years and teams to offically adjust to the NBA game.
Listen j0se you do not know what you are talking about. Today versus the Blazers Nate played 16 min, and got 7 points, 5 rebounds and 1 assist. I dont understand what is wrong with those stats. Marbury played 41 min and only got 1 rebound. For a player who is 5-9, taking 5 rebounds in just 16 min is a pretty good effort. I also dont understand you when you say Nate dosent have a jumpshot. He has a great jumpshot. Didn't you see the game in Denver. He was hitting jump shots all over the place. So far Nate Robinson is doing better than Jarret Jack in the scoring region. Nate Robinson's highest points for the season is 14, Jarret Jack's is 11. Nate is doing very well in the NBA so far, and i do not know what you have against him.
LOL... you're all desperate... do you realize you're picking on rookies? Frye, now Nate. Frye has put up 3 straight 20 point games but I know that's still not good enough for some here. Which is amazing. Now Nate.... let's see... he played SG during his career in college and is now trying to transition to PG in the NBA. Hmmm. I guess everyone who's gone through that got it within 3 weeks of their careers.... not to mention most of them didn't have to compensate their lack of height. Yeah Nate makes his mistakes but it's called being a ROOKIE... he's played 10 games... not 10 years. LB is putting him on the court for a reason and if it was as negative as you think it is Jose... would he be that stupid? Jarrett Jack? he's averaging 4.8 points in 18 minutes.. versus Nate's 5.5 points in 12 minutes. Or maybe it's his 18% from 3pt range that makes him a better choice?

I just wanna make sure so I have nothing to look forward to the rest of his career. Uhm... Frye is proving you wrong <u>so far</u> (yeah it's still early) but I don't think you'll really give him his due. I still think you're waiting for him to crash. And if Nate doesn't have "that point guard mentality".. than neither does Steph cause he's always been scoring PG.. yet Steph manages. And no one's ever tried to change his game till now. At least LB is starting with Nate from his start. And how the hell would Jarrett Jack help? He'd be ANOTHER sg on the team.... by the way.. he played 7 minutes yesterday and got a fat ZERO... ooops.

I'd also like to add that Frye is playing much better in the NBA than he did in college which suggests he's been having a good streak or that teams havent learned that they need to guard him out on the perimeter. But we can have that discussion another time. Right now were talking about Robinson. You dont learn to get a point guard's mentality. It's not something that can be taught. You either have it or you dont. Marbury has been playing point guard for years now and he still doesnt have it. The reason why Marbury manages is because he's about half a foot taller than Robinson. At his height Robinson has no other choice but to be a playmaker since he'll never be a big scorer like Marbury but since he doesnt have the mentality so it's highly unlikely that he'll be an effective playmaker. Jarett Jack is in no way shape or form a shooting guard! The only reason Portland plays him at the two is for his defense(and they dont have much else there). He probably had zero points because he's a pure ochestrator that plays good defense something Larry Brown would love to have right now. If Larry Brown could trade Robinson for Jarett Jack right now he would. Anyway I think Isiah Thomas should be fired.

The problem with nate is he's like starbury both want to play the 2. Marbury at 6'2" is too undersized, let alone nate who is 5'7". The best short players were great passeres like mugsy bogues, boykins is a pretty good passer.
