Thanks to Mitch and Jerry, it looks like we are lottery bound again. Who is out there in college that might make a difference next year? It should give us Laker fans something to watch beside bad basketball and no talent bench players.

This season is younger than a new born baby. Although things don't look too good for us, I wouldn't put us in the lottery quite yet.

Only 1/8 of the season is over with and at 4-6 the Lakers are not out of it yet. As for the 2006 lottery, the scary part is the Lakers draft pick will end up in Atlanta if the Lakers select past pick #10.

I don't know what you are watching, but it must be through Jerry's rose colored glasses. I have watched the NBA for 35 years and this is the worst laker team I have ever seen and don't see any chance for improvement this year. No talent except for Kobe and Phil has no control over him. You can't make chicken salad out of chicken crap. Just like management, Laker fans need to look for next year, there is nothing to work with here.

I wouldn't give up just yet, they have just played 10 games so far. Alot can happen during a season. Trades and players evolving could make this team work. And the Lakers are not *Atlanta* bad anyways...

I'm not sure if this team is worse than the Tony Smith, Sedale Threatt years just yet. This team is physically talented, but mentally challenged in terms of basketball fundamentals. The Triangle offense is tough to learn, but it shouldn't be as hard as the players are making it out to be. It's sad when a 17 year old rookie understands the offense and is picking it up faster than Lamar Odom and Chris Mihm.

what is the Laker draft situation-we get the pick if it's in the lottery only? What about the picks from Miami and Charlotte?

So who's out there that can help us next year? I can only think of JJ Redick. Are there any big men in college these days who may make an impact?

Absolutely, Shelden Williams (Duke), Paul Davis (MSU), Nick Fazekas (Nevada), Lamarcus Aldridge (Texas), Josh Boone (UConn) J.P. Batista (Zaga) and Tiago Splitter (INTL). Those are few of the better players who should be in next year's draft. Also there are a lot of PGs who would fit in the Triangle in next year's draft. Next year's draft doesn't have any real superstar players like a LeBron James, but it has a lot of the solid role players the Lakers could use.

I think Rudy Gay will be the closest thing to a superstar to come out of next years draft, and even he hasn't impressed me much yet this year. He's been battling inconsistency like it was his job. He's had one good game (28 pts), one bad one (6pts, 5 TOs), and a handful of mediocre games.

As for the Lakers, I'm not sure about their situation. They need some added depth at the 4 and 5, but they are also pretty short on depth at the 2. In fact, aside from Von Wafer, I really can't think of another shooting guard on the team. So, they really have some holes to fill on the bench, and maybe in the starting lineup if Brown keeps playing like garbage.

Why is everyone giving up so early. The season just started and everyone is already thinking about which top ten college player we should get. You guys are true fans?Teams are allowed to have a bad stretch. Lakers will bounce back. We've got the talent. All we need is consistency and I dont see that as a problem that the Lakers can't overcome.

The player they need most in my opinion is Sheldon Williams, so he can replace Kwame Brown

Some good big men that the Lakers could draft around their position are Sheldon Williams, Taj Gray, Tiago Splitter (if he doesnt drop out), Paul Davis, Sheldon Williams, and Nick Fazekas.

I like Tiago Spliter and Taj Gray alot out of these players. Both of these guys are nice all around players, Splitter can shoot, post up, and block shots well. He's got good size and could slip because hes a risky pick and has buyout issues. Some weaknesses to his game are that he isnt very strong and may be more of an SF than PF.

Taj Gray is super athletic and he plays above the rim. He finishes strong and blocks a ton of shots, runs the floor well. Hes got a nice post game and nice touch around the rim with his right hand. What separates him from the other freakishly athletic big men is that he is a very nice passer, probably would work well in the triangle because of this. Weaknesses are that he is undersized and a bad FT shooter. Also he doesnt have a very polished right hand and may rely too much on athleticism.

There are alot of other big man prospects but these guys stand out to me with their all around games (both offense and defense), athleticism, and they still have room to grow.

The pick was originally traded to Boston in the Gary Payton for Mihm & Atkins deal. The Celtics traded the rights to the draft pick to Atlanta for Antoine Walker.
