<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">P.J. Brown, New Orleans Hornets. With the team temporarily located a long way from his hometown of Slidell, La., the main factor that kept P.J. married to the Hornets is a nonfactor now.
The 36-year-old would be happy with a trade to a contender, and his $8 million salary this season and next has made him the most sought-after big man on the trade market (other than Garnett). Coach Byron Scott wants to keep Brown, but owner George Shinn is rebuilding.

Other teams expect the Hornets to wait 20-25 games before becoming active on a Brown trade.

Zoran Planinic, Nets. Looks as though New Jersey has been showcasing the third-year 6-foot-7 Croatian point guard caught, who's in a crowded backcourt numbers crunch along with fellow reserves Jeff McInnis, Lamond Murray and Jacque Vaughn on a team desperate for size.
He's signed through next season, and he's shown flashes. Detractors point out he loves the nightlife, he loves to boogie -- too much, maybe.

The Portland Trail Blazers entry: Zach Randolph/Darius Miles. The relationship is already rocky between new coach Nate McMillan and the two young multimillionaires, and the Blazers might be seriously rethinking their earlier decision to commit a combined $134 million to the two athletically gifted but averse-to-authority forwards.
Randolph's skill level gives him huge trade value, but there aren't many players signed through 2010-11, and he's one of 'em.

The Cleveland Cavaliers entry: Luke Jackson/Sasha Pavlovic/Eric Snow. There isn't enough room in a tight Cavs rotation for the two backups, Jackson and Pavlovic, and both have been showcased by a team that has stormed out of the gate.
If the Cavs want to keep both youngsters, they can deal Snow to New York for Malik Rose and make Damon Jones their starter. Rose and Snow are both under contract through '08-09. Knicks coach Larry Brown loves Snow, and Cavs general manager Danny Ferry is a fan of Rose, his former teammate, so it seems to make sense for both teams.

Luol Deng, Chicago Bulls. There's no question the Bulls love him, but they're also desperate for size if they want to make a serious run this season. As of now, they'll have more cap room than anyone next summer, but the best available free agent big man might be Nazr Mohammed (depending on what happens with Ben Wallace).
If they move Deng, they'll get value -- and perhaps a better big man than what'll be available next summer. There won't be any room for Deng next season if Peja Stojakovic and Andres Nocioni are the small forwards. " </div>

I really like the Knicks-Cavs deal, and it makes a lot of sense for both teams to consider it. With Damon Jones and Larry Hughes, the Cavs have playoff experienced ballhandlers, so Eric Snow is no longer needed. Adding a playoff experienced big man who hustles and doesn't mind using up all 6 fouls is a great piece for the Cavs postseason push.

Eric Snow is needed in New York, and his best success has come from being paired with Larry Brown. Even though he's older and slower, it allows Marbury to play shooting guard, and Snow can be another player in the locker room preaching Larry's system. He can be the mentor for the younger players and be another coach and teacher on the court for the Knicks. The Knicks have no use for Malik Rose, they have a roster full of undersized PFs, and they need to start developing their future front court by giving minutes to Frye, Lee, and Curry.

Yeah it looks like win-win for Cavs and Knickerbockers if the deal is pulled off. No trade rumors involving Lakers eh?

Funny how things change, last year Zach Randolph was untouchable/untradeable yet now there's rumors that he could possibly be traded.

I understand the Nets want to trade Planinic but who would they trade him too? I doubt they can trade him for someone good unless he is involved in trade with more Nets players.

NBA RUMORS: FRIDAY, NOV. 25, 2005

"League approval that will make Doug Christie an ex-Maverick is expected today. Coach Avery Johnson said Thursday that all that remains between Christie's retirement because of his left ankle injury is for the NBA office, the Mavericks and Christie to complete paperwork. It will be a retirement because of injury, not a waiving. "We should have some resolution [today]," Johnson said, adding that there was no scenario in which Christie would remain a Maverick." Dallas Morning News

"Owner Mark Cuban was more cautious, saying that nothing is certain until the commissioner approves it. But Cuban said he was extremely pleased with the way Christie has handled the situation. "He was completely open and honest," Cuban said. "Doug gave 110 percent in his attempt to come back. I have a ton of respect for the hard work he put in. He just couldn't do what he wanted to on the court and that frustrated him." Dallas Morning News

"When Christie's retirement is finalized, it may allow the Mavericks to collect insurance on part of the $3.15 million he is owed for this season. The Mavericks also will start the wheels turning toward acquiring a replacement." Dallas Morning News

"Doug Christie is almost an ex-Maverick. The final hurdle in Christie's retirement could be cleared today. The NBA commissioner's office just has to approve the paperwork, but that's considered a formality. "We should have some resolution," coach Avery Johnson said after Thursday morning's practice at American Airlines Center." Fort Worth Star Telegram

"Among the possible replacements: Unsigned free agents Wesley Person, Rodney White and Felipe Lopez. Adrian Griffin and Erick Strickland, both former Mavs, are also available." Fort Worth Star Telegram

This might sound crazy.....but could anyone see Spree taking Christie's place on the Mavs? Sure, they are already loaded with swingmen, but he would bring some attitude to an otherwise soft sqaud.

Trading Jalen Rose is like solving a Rubik's Cube. Geniuses are able to solve it, but everyone else just give up in frustration. And I seriously doubt that Rob Babcock could solve a Rubik's Cube.

In hindsight, Chicago trading Rose & Marshall for AD & Jerome Williams was pretty brilliant. It basically allowed them to truly rebuild, and now they're one of the more promising young teams in the league.

Surely Chicago wouldn't be stupid enough to deal Luol.

If they do, he'll join the long line of former Bulls to become all-stars for their new teams.

The Bulls better not give up Deng. He's really looked good as of late. If they want to trade some potential for size it needs to be in the overloaded Guard positions. Not that I want that to happen unless it's Garnett but Deng better not be leaving.
