<div class="quote_poster">Quoting N4S:</div><div class="quote_post">KG is not the best player in the league anymore. Mabury is no where near a star. And if you haven't noticed. Q hasn't did crap for your city.</div> That's certainly up for debate, but be that as it may, he averages 21.4/10.2/5.8 and ranks #1 in efficiency. That certainly makes KG top 5 in the league, right? How is Marbury nowhere near a star? He's one of the best scorers at his position, averages 20 points and 8 assists virtually every season. His defense has also skyrocketed playing under Larry Brown. How is he nowhere near a star? I know Richardson hasn't performed well so far and I didn't say he did. I said Garnett's presence will open things up for Richardson - a 40% 3-point shooter this year - on the wing. That has little to do with what I said, though. The fact of the matter is anytime you bring in a player of Garnett's caliber, it automatically increase a team's chances of contending. Talent-wise the Knicks are a low playoff seed. Adding Garnett to the mix of things for basically nothing greatly makes us contenders, especially with Brown at the helm of things. <div class="quote_poster">Quoting rafy:</div><div class="quote_post">But how does it go then? You give up KG for cap relief? I'm sure you could manage a deal of KG to someone for a really good rook + expiring contract. It is possible to get much more talent, and still get cap relief, there just has to be a better trade out there.</div> You're right, but if Minnesota really wants to rebuild, this is the best trade, especially if we add Frye. I think if the Wolves trade Garnett for another star player they might as well just have kept him.

KG's presence won't open up anything for QRich, because QRich is not a 3point shooter. He was forced to be one in Phoenix, but he's at his best inside the post backing smaller players down. He's a less athletic version of CMaggs basically. I wouldn't just hand the word contenders to the Knicks yet. They definitely make the playoffs, but they might need a season or two develop chemistry and tinker a little more with their bench before they can compete with the elite teams in the East. Rafy I agree, if the deal was just for KG, then it's bizarre, but if Minny can unload Wally at the same time then the New York deal has more legs to it. Right now Wally's contract prevents the TWolves from entertaining any rebuilding strategies. He's making superstar money, and at best he's a 4th option for a team. If the TWolves plan to completely rebuild this deal makes the most sense because it saves them the most money and gives them the most financial flexibility to rebuild. Maybe they get lucky and end up with Josh McRoberts or Greg Oden in the draft. If it takes the Knicks giving up a top your rookie, they have Channing Frye available.

If they wan't to rebuild, they need either picks, or young players, of course getting cap space in the process. I just think there has to be a better deal as opposed to davis+penny+ariza or frye.

The Knicks already have a deep bench, so I don't think that'll be a major problem. Even if they aren't officially "contenders" there's no question they'll easilybe on of the top teams in the East. <div class="quote_poster">Quoting rafy:</div><div class="quote_post">Frye has a good future, but I don't think he can compare to an Okafor, or a Marvin Williams.</div> Oh, I thought you meant a top rookie of this year's draft. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">If they wan't to rebuild, they need either picks, or young players, of course getting cap space in the process. feeling Am I the only one who feels that Isiah will mess this up? I'm not believing anything good that could happen till its official.

That was his game, he would punish smaller guards on the post, and I also think that that is when he is at his best. Even if the Knicks get KG, they still have a way to go to contend with Miami, Detroit and Indiana. Obviously KG makes them a whole lot better, but I just can't see the Knicks competing with those teams right away.
QRich needs to slip some video footage of his days at Depaul into Larry's office or start showing how fierce he is inside the post during practice. Maybe if QRich starts playing defense, Larry will start listening.

He has only been to the freethrow line TWICE, all season Do you even watch the Knicks? That was a pathetic statement, especially against one of the best Knick posters in the forum. Josh McRoberts = overrated, another David Lee I wouldn't mind drafting Gay or another SG, but I don't see how we're going to get a lottery pick when it has been traded to Chicago

Purely because the core has been playing together a number of years and they're out to prove something since the drama last season. One more thing: How come everytime the Knicks struggle, rumors of a blockbuster trade like this always surface?
Another day, another rumor.. Garnett has veto power over any trade... You keep mentioning Garnett & Marbury. Kevin and Steph left on sort of bitter terms when Steph when to New Jersey... Steph claimed Garnett was taking away from his contract when he signed and wasn't even the best player because he wasn't taking the shots at the end of the game... Garnett fired back claiming he couldn't take the final shots of the game when Steph had the ball. Do I know their current relationship? No. But as far as fits I thought Garnett in a New York jersey seemed more plausible than all these other "take my bad contract for you huge - yet great KG contract". But like I said, another day, another team, another "We can get KG..." rumor. Next team please.

He is not a perimeter player, he's a post up player. QRich was a completely different player in college and with the Clippers. How is Josh McRoberts is overrated? You can't just throw out a blanket statement without any facts. Last time I watched the Knicks, David Lee looked pretty good on the court and was having an impact on the game. If you want to draft Rudy Gay, you will be in for disappointment. He doesn't have the agressive mentality to be a superstar in the NBA. The Huskies play a very uptempo style of basketball, so a lot of the stats the players put up are inflated.

They made a change to his trade kicker in the new CBA agreement.
Q Rich isn't a post up player, the only time I saw him get in the post was against Boston, after that he hangs around the perimeter all day, like Tim Thomas, he doesn't move well without the basketball, he's not physical, he's accually as soft as Tim Thomas and reminds me so much of TT TT had a better post game than Q Rich, by far, I've saw the Knicks last season, every single damn game, and you can't tell me anything else besides that The man has been to the freethrow line twice all season, how do you explain that as a post player? How can you explain it when 50% of FG attempts this season are 3pt shots? and he shoots higher 3pt FG than FG, so go figure
All of you need to wake up and smell the weed you smokin...this ain't happenin. And let's just say it does for arguments sake. Our payroll will be outrageous (like it's not already). All that for a #4 seed in the east ... tops.
Larry Brown's system had Prince in the post too, Richardson is soft, he avoids contact and going to the free throw line, we could of got better for Kurt Thomas
