Detroit Pistons were willing to ship a package including Rasheed Wallace and Darko Milicic to Minnesota for Garnett.

Dumars insisted he had not been in contact with the Wolves regarding Garnett, and McHale also dismissed the rumor, which came as executives from others teams were trying to gauge whether the Timberwolves would seriously consider dealing the franchise player who has been with Minnesota throughout his entire 10-year NBA career. A source insisted Detroit's offer of Wallace and Milicic was real, adding that the offer was made through another Pistons official so that Dumars could maintain deniability in case the players came to him for an explanation."
This came from the ESPN insider article.
Needless to say Im upset, I love SHEED and I would hate to mess with the best starting 5 in the NBA but KG is Awesome.

KG on the pistons would be crazy, he's pair up nicely w/ big ben.

I just think that the wolves wouldn't want two pf's in return, i know darko can play 3 but isn't he more of a 4? I would think tayshaun would be a better fit on the wolves, but that could be a deal breaker for the pistons.

As much as I would like to believe Joe Dumars - I don't. I maybe wrong, but this has come up in the past many times, especially a few seasons ago when everyone was sure Garnett would be traded to Chicago.

I'm sure Joe has thought about fitting Garnett onto the Pistons squad - but do I see it happening, nope.

I think the only way the Wolves move KG is If he demands to be moved and the Wolves are put in the same situation as Toronto with the VC situation. I can see Garnett being traded but only If they decide they can clear cap room and make a move through free-agency in the next few years.

As a Garnett fan It is quite depressing to see him not competing for a title. He's at the age where he does not deserve to be on a losing team.

I know he's KG, but wouldn't acquiring him mess up the the Piston's cap situation? Dumars has it mapped out pretty well, and in the end, I wouldn't sacrifice all of that depth for Garnett. You gotta continue with what's working with you, and the Pistons really don't need more firepower, just minor additions.

I see what you are saying, but have you seen KGs stats? The only reason that the Raps traded Vince is because he was dogging it every night. Why trade a guy (KG) putting up MVP calibre stats simply because he is unhappy? KGs ethic NEVER deserves to be mentioned in the same sentence as VCs.

These two situations are not similar at all. If Vince was putting up stats like KGs, I believe that he would still be a Raptor today. KG has said a lot about past actions (how Flip could still be the coach, etc), but he isn't constantly dogging the franchise presently like VC was.

From what I read, KG's on air statement about Kevin McHale didn't come off well and seems to me like hes indirectly asking for a trade. I don't see him going anyplace that doesn't have a chance to win the title.
Also mentioned a deal to the Knicks for basically what boils down to cap space.

It would be weird after all these seasons that KG would be moving to another team, but it just all comes down to buisness.

I just checked the trade on RealGM and it doesn`t match though...

that would be a crazy steal for us, but i dont know how the starting 5's chemistry would work with "the big ticket" who has his "little ego"
plus darko sucks, ask me why and ill tell you why you think hes good vs why he sucks

Remember Rasheed's Wallace comments on the heat team moves this year.
"Why did the Heat get rid of their old team and add allstar players. They were one game away from the finals". Its the same situation here. Pistons were one game away from the NBA championship. Making this move would be stupid for the Pistons. Not only do they get rid of their Heart and Soul but they also get rid of a good Center with tons of potential. This move would kill chemistry and I dont think the Pistons players would like giving up sheed. They have no reason to make this trade because they have the best record in the league. KG is better than Sheed but he doesnt mean as much to the Pistons as sheed does.

On the one hand, gotskills you said it. If it ain't broke don't fix it. If you're playing championship level ball, be GRATEFUL, don't be greedy. Rasheed does mean a lot to the team.
On the OTHER HAND, Rasheed ain't going to get better. We've never seen KG play on a true championship level team. Wallace, KG and Tayshaun - that might be one of the best frontlines we've seen in the league in quite a few years. Then Chauncey and Rip in the backcourt. Oh my God. The Spurs better pray this trade doesn't happen.

After watching Rasheed live in Oakland, I think he could do what KG does if he was ever asked to do so. He does everything well. I can hardly believe that I am singing his praises but he proved it. Well Rasheed may not put up KG numbers every night because he does not want to but he does exactly what the Pistons need. KG might be better but that's a risk and the Pistons were only one game away from back to back. I say pass on KG.

Well Pistons have a 15-3 record and are playing great with Sheed. So if it ain't broken don't fix it
