Now that's just sad if a guard in your own team has more rebound than a center with relatively similar amount of minutes played.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting AnimeFANatic:</div><div class="quote_post">Holy crap, despite the loss great game by your rookie! I was in need of a SG in my fantasy team and I picked Luther Head up after the game, hope he continues playing well. If he had the rebounding instinct of Camby or KG it'd be game over. Anyway, you guys got more games against the Mavs so all is not lost. Good luck on your next game!</div> Its not about instict with KG and Camby, they're just quicker.
seriously, YAO HAS NO MORE EXCUSES. He is showing that all the critics of him "not being a superstar" are right on money. Every single time he fails to deliver in crunch time, which alone is the most important definition of a go-to-guy. Unless T-mac works some magic and comes back. I don't see us going anywhere. Heck even the Bobcats are more competetive than this.
At least you have a center that scores above 16, rebounds somewhat decently, and has a few blocks. The Warriors have Foyle who I would say is a little better at rebounding and shotblocking but has the toughest time getting the ball into the ring. Yao was supposed to be ours!!! (Warriors). lol

Yeah, too bad we can't hold our leads but apart from that I think we're improving our play without T-Mac, and it's really great to see what Luther is capable of. I got really upset once I saw the score but then I realised that Dallas is a great team, I mean they gave Detroit their first loss, winning by 36 points as well, and we came within 9 and would of won had we played better in the second half, plus we're T-Macless at the moment, I guess i'm seeing alot more positive then negative at the moment...
Yao and Swift pissed me off. I have absolutely no idea why Yao could get 15points the first half but merely 5 for the second. This is kinda a puzzle. I figure stamina is definitely the major cause of the problem. But there gotta be something else bother him. He lacks of courage when the team really needs him, and his psychology is not steady and calm when the score is getting very tight. He cant make some crucial shots that directly lead the failure of taking over leadeship of the team. What a pitty! But anyway, I hope he can fix those problems and work the puzzle out as the games go on. After all, the season has just started. Good luck to Yao and the Rockets. <div class="quote_poster">Quoting samass:</div><div class="quote_post">seriously, YAO HAS NO MORE EXCUSES. JVG dosn't know how to use a good center. Yao is not yet a super star center like Shaq or olajuweon, but he can score as easy as turning ones hands over when he is in good position and energetic. Trade Yao would be a stupid deal. <font color="red">Please use the 'edit' button in the future.~Locke</font>
Yao's performance is really awful in the 2nd half of this game, but it was so normal because of JVG's stupid strategy.he kept Yao running coast to coast in whole 3rd quarter without any comfortable shot.so how could Yao be more aggressive when he finally got chance in 4th quarter with little energy? i kinda hate the pick n'roll stuff which JVG's proud of permanently!! u know what, the exchange thing is definitely no good for the Rockets, but maybe it's good for Yao.
we need to start mutombo and have yao come off the bench right after half time... he will probably get at least the same amount of points that he is already getting now!!!
Tough loss, but I took some very good positives from the game. First, like I've been saying, Luther Head needs more minutes. He needs to be set as the playmaker so he can score, and get others involved. Second, DA came back to earth. He looked more agressive, and really took some good shots. As a whole, the Rockests FINALLY showed that willingness to fight. As for the negatives, Yao just doesn't have enough energy to finish games. I've been dissapointed with Yao's rebounding. I'd get on Swift's rebounding, but he hasn't been on the court long enough (foul trouble). I think Van Gundy needs to stop runnning Wesley at the point. I made my case all offseason how Wesley can't run the point. Last night was a perfect example on what happens when you have Wesley at the point. It happened in the playoffs, and in last nights game. Head should be the ball handler.
well.. david wesley is trying realy hard... he got his shot back and the only reason he was aweful on dribbling the begining of the season is because he was fustrated with his shot.... I'm realy happy that everyone is starting to play real basketball... the only problem is: yao and swift... if they can just practice rebounding and not get in fould trouble they would be perfect... luther is just getting beter and better.... he is defenitaly a better player than sam cassel.. we got the steal of the draft masybe we're destined to get the same score 6-10??? it makes sense now... God was testing our faith.... Mutombo looks the same as last year which is good.. i was worried over the summer whats going to happen to him since hes getting old...
Man I still don't blame Yao for his "inconsistency". It's really the bad officiating. When Yao is not tired in the first half, it helps him avoid picking up some fouls, and when he plays in the second, he is a step to slow and everything is always called against him. I wish they could just get rid of officials in basketball and football, because they can make the most unbelievable calls sometimes, yet no penalties or fines for them. We should at least have a system that allows us to correct a bad call. Grrrr makes you think that the NBA just wants to control there games for their own reasons (franchises, endorsements, shiz like that).

I agree with that guy who brought up starting Yao only once the 2nd half has started. It's like that game he scored 20 points in the 1st half and 1 in the second. Honestly with Tmac out Yao should be dominating.
I didn't expect the Rockets to win this one at all, but after a brilliant first quarter, I got mad at the Rockets for eventually losing the game. Luther Head did a great job getting to the hoop and making his threes, but he's not a point guard, yet. Having him run the point would be just as bad as having Steve Francis running it. Head looks to attack the rim first, shoot second and pass a distant third. He spots defensive holes well, but putting him in more of a passing role would limit his offensive production. Let him do what he does best, and that is playing off the ball. Yao should be dominating, no doubt, but when he's overworked as he was in the first and third quarters, you can't honestly bank on him to put up a great fourth quarter. JVG should rest him strategically and avoid playing him for full quarters in an effort to reserve his energy. Derek Anderson had a good game, but starting him won't be the best idea now. If we bring Wesley off the bench, no one can put up 10 points in a hurry once Anderson and Yao go out. Best to keep Anderson as sixth man until Alston and TMac come back.
