He has missed two of the last three games with the injury, and he aggravated it in the game he played. Doug Christie will miss his third game, and the Mavericks still are waiting for information to filter out of Seattle, where he is undergoing rehabilitation. Jerry Stackhouse did not go through Monday's practice. Coach Avery Johnson said he is hopeful that Stackhouse, who has missed the first nine games, will be able to practice Wednesday. </div> <a href="http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/spt/basketball/mavs/stories/112205dnspomavsbriefs.815b887.html" target="_blank"> </a>
Josh Howard <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> The game was already a lost cause. Then came the bigger loss. Josh Howard went down with 2:35 left in Saturday night's 112-92 loss to the Memphis Grizzlies at American Airlines Center. Howard came down on teammate Devin Harris' foot and twisted his right ankle. He had to be carried off the court and could not put any weight on the foot as he was helped to the locker room. X-rays were negative. Howard left the arena on crutches and will be re-evaluated today. But it seems likely that Howard is out for the upcoming trip to Toronto and Milwaukee. "I knew I rolled my ankle right away," Howard said. "I never really had an ankle sprain before. When they took the tape off before the X-ray, it was already swollen. We'll see what it looks like [today]." </div> <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> With Jerry Stackhouse having missed all season with a right knee problem and Doug Christie getting waived Friday, the Mavericks have accelerated their plans to sign a veteran swingman. The leading candidate is ex-Mav Adrian Griffin, who has been unemployed since failing to come to terms with Chicago in the off-season.</div> Also from that article
Josh Howard and Jason Terry <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> Coach Avery Johnson said Thursday that the team would make a game-time decision tonight at Memphis on whether guard Jason Terry would play. "He's getting a little bit better," Johnson said, "but we don't know if he'll be ready to play [tonight]." Terry did not practice Thursday. He spent the time rehabbing his hamstring injury. Forward Josh Howard (sprained ankle) worked out in noncontact drills, but Johnson said he would not play tonight.</div>
Josh Howard, Keith Van Horn and Jerry Stackhouse <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Josh Howard wasn't breaking any speed records in his first game back. But at least he was breaking a sweat. While he was limited to less than a quarter's worth of work in the first half, the Mavericks small forward was back after missing eight games because of a sprained right ankle. Howard finished with four points and three rebounds, but not necessarily a smile on his face. "I wanted to be out there [in the second half]," Howard said. "But the ankle got stiff at halftime, and coach said it was best not to play." Going on adrenaline, Howard looked lively early in the game, although he said he felt the ankle tweak a couple of times. His return, even at less than 100 percent, pushed the Mavericks closer to full strength, and they could have a full complement of players for the first time this season by the end of the week</div> <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Van Horn hurt: Forward Keith Van Horn was scheduled to have an MRI and an X-ray on Tuesday to determine the extent of a hip injury that knocked him out of Monday's game. Van Horn banged into Lakers forward Kwame Brown for an offensive foul in the second quarter. He was down for about two minutes, then was helped to the locker room and didn't return. Van Horn said he was told there was possible nerve damage in his right hip. </div> <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Jerry Stackhouse, out all season because of swelling in his right knee, is scheduled to go through a full practice today. It will be an important day for the 6-6 swingman. "We want to put the knee through some stressful situations and see how it responds," coach Avery Johnson said. "We're hoping for a full-scale (workout)." How Stackhouse does in the aftermath will determine if he can return later in the week. </div>
Stackhouse, Daniels and Van Horn <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> Injury update: Jerry Stackhouse had his second day of solid workouts Wednesday and continues to move toward a return from his right knee injury. "He's climbing up the hill," Mavs coach Avery Johnson said. "We climbed the big part. We're almost at the top. Hopefully, we can keep progressing." Johnson said Stackhouse could make his season debut either this weekend or on the upcoming West Coast trip. Keith Van Horn also received good news. His bruised right hip was improving Wednesday. He sat out against the Suns but is day-to-day going into Friday's game against Orlando. Marquis Daniels suffered a strained neck when he was hit with a flagrant forearm, courtesy of Kurt Thomas. Daniels had a stiff neck afterward and will be re-evaluated today. </div>

And he's looking forward to the possibilities when they do. "We feel like if we ever get all the pieces to the puzzle, we could be pretty good," he said Thursday. Actually, being 16-6 already qualifies as pretty good. But the Mavericks should inch closer to full strength when Keith Van Horn returns from a right hip injury tonight against the Orlando Magic. Van Horn took a nasty fall against the Lakers on Monday and missed Wednesday's game against Phoenix. He lost feeling in his right leg for about 24 hours. "It doesn't feel the same as my left leg, but it's pretty close," he said after going through practice. "Hopefully by [tonight] it'll be 100 percent. What's most important is I'm getting the feeling back in my left leg." Jerry Stackhouse went through his second practice this week and said "it's another good day in Stackville." He's still on target to return for the West Coast trip next week. Josh Howard had soreness in his right ankle after playing 35 minutes on Wednesday. But he said he's fine for tonight's game. </div> Good, I want to see a full lineup for once.
Fort Worth Star-Telegram - Jerry Stackhouse returns to the Dallas Mavericks lineup Friday night at Seattle ready to make a contribution, even it it?s a small one at first. "I hope I can just turn it on," Stackhouse said with a laugh Thursday night before the Mavericks? game against the Sacramento Kings at Arco Arena. "Nah, I understand it?s a process getting back in the fold of what we?re doing. Being there and seeing it is still not the same as being on the floor." Out the first 26 games of the National Basketball Association season nursing a sore right knee hasn?t been easy for the Mavericks? top scorer off the bench last season. The rehabilitation was frustrating at times, as swelling in the knee aborted a couple attempts to come back sooner. Stackhouse estimated the knee is about "90 percent" and has responded well to practice the last two weeks. The next hurdle is to build up to playing shape
AP - Dallas Mavericks guard Marquis Daniels will miss at least two weeks because of a strained neck that has been slow to heal. Daniels was hurt Dec. 15 on a flagrant foul by Phoenix center Kurt Thomas. He missed the next two games, played one, then missed three more. He came back for four games, then reaggravated the injury Thursday and hasn't played since. "We just want to give it time to settle down," Dallas coach Avery Johnson said before a game Saturday night against Minnesota. "That hit he took from Kurt Thomas was pretty, pretty hard. He tried to come back, but is still pretty sore
I dont know if i buy that. This could just be our "too much talent problem". We have to find everybody time and if it's when at least one of our players is hurt or out than i guess that's what we have to do.

Missed the story about the "clothesline" that Thomas hit Daniels with. Was Thomas ejected for a flagrant foul? Was he fined. What did Cuban say?
<font size="-1">By GERRY FRALEY / The Dallas Morning News </font> LOS ANGELES – Marquis Daniels is scheduled to take a major step today in his return to the Mavericks. The club expects Daniels to participate in a full off-day practice in Portland. The plan, according to coach Avery Johnson, is for Daniels to go through "one or two" practices before having a strained neck re-evaluated. If all goes well, Daniels could return during this trip, which continues with stops in Portland on Sunday, Golden State on Wednesday and Seattle on Thursday. Daniels has missed the last eight games. "He's trying to get back," Johnson said before Friday's game against the Los Angeles Clippers at the Staples Center. "But we're just not sure yet." The Mavericks hope Keith Van Horn can also get through the practice. Van Horn missed his second consecutive game because of a sprained left ankle. He tested the ankle during Friday's morning shootaround but "just isn't ready," Johnson said.
OAKLAND, Calif. – Mavericks forward Jerry Stackhouse appears to have taken a significant step in his return from an ailing right knee. Stackhouse said Tuesday that he has had no problems with the knee since playing a season-high 35 minutes in an overtime win at Portland on Sunday. Stackhouse's previous high for minutes was 28, done twice. "It's all positive," Stackhouse said. "It's getting there. I don't look at it as if I've arrived and it's all behind me. I'm still cognizant of it." Stackhouse missed the first 26 games of the season because of soreness in the knee. The Mavericks would prefer to keep his minutes in the mid-20 range, but Stackhouse played a major role in the offense against Portland with a season-high 29 points. Coach Avery Johnson will be careful with Stackhouse's minutes in tonight's game against Golden State. The Mavericks also play at Seattle on Thursday, and they do not want to push Stackhouse. In two previous back-to-back situations. Stackhouse played a combined 34 and 47 minutes. "We're mindful of that," Johnson said. "He looks pretty strong. More than anything, Stack is sensing that we possibly can have a special year. Those [veteran] guys know their time is running out. You're not guaranteed anything from year to year." More aches and pains: Keith Van Horn was limited to light individual work during practice in the hope that rest will help his ailing left ankle. Van Horn has missed the last three games because of the condition. ... Marquis Daniels also went through practice, but the Mavericks expect him to miss his 10th consecutive game because of a strained neck.

Harris, a reserve who led the Mavericks with 11 points in the first half, was hurt when he didn't see a pick set by Dunleavy with 2.1 seconds left before halftime. Also, Keith Van Horn returned from injury and played today. He scored 2 points, grabbed 3 rebounds and dished 3 assists, he went 1-4 for his 2 points.
Harris update Devin Harris sat out the game Thursday against Seattle after spraining his right shoulder Wednesday at Golden State. Harris didn't consider the pick set by Mike Dunleavy a cheap shot, although the Warriors forward used his shoulder instead of his chest to set the screen. Harris had the shoulder heavily bandaged and said it's not nearly as bad as the slight separation he suffered during summer league last July. He hopes to play Saturday against Utah at American Airlines Center, but concedes that Tuesday's game against Chicago is more realistic. "I'll be fine," he said.
