<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Sometime this upcoming summer or sooner, the Magic again will ask Fran Vazquez if he feels like coming to America to play next season. Of course, that's if Fran's meddling girlfriend gives them permission. Magic Assistant General Manager Otis Smith said Monday that he, co-GM Dave Twardzik and scouts plan to see their runaway draft pick play overseas. Vazquez, a 6-foot-11 forward, snubbed the Magic to stay in Spain after the club selected him with the 11th pick in last June's draft. He signed a four-year deal with Akasvayu Girona. The Magic hold Vazquez' rights indefinitely. They'll try to get him to stop hiding behind his mommy's apron and honor his commitment. Sure, the Magic have endured criticism for not picking up tell-tale signals during their scouting trips. The bottom line: The guy's not here in uniform. Here's another bottom line, an even bigger one: The gutless Vazquez welched on a deal.</div> http://www.orlandosentinel.com/sports/bask...?coll=orl-magic
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting T-Cat:</div><div class="quote_post">I believe the Magic will buyout his contract next year and he will play for the Magic next season.</div> We can only hope. I hear he's doing pretty good over there.(well my friend said he was, I hadn't seen any stats or anything about it). I think the earliest he would come in 2007 unless he dumps his gf. That would let him play 2 seasons.
I think it's ridiculous that hes being controlled by his girlfriend. How about not signing him ever and learning from a mistake by not Drafting another International Player with such a high draft pick ever again. I don't care how high a draft pick or how good he is, the Magic should set a statement. It's ridiculous how this guy is working this and they shouldn't deal with him.

I would say make sure you talk to the person before you draft him and make sure he is still dedicated into playing in the NBA.
I don't really like how the Sentinel worded this article, ripping on Vazquez so much. He derseves some blows, but they're making him out to be hated in the public's eye. We're doing fine without him. One of these days he'll probably want to come back over and play for us, but in the meantime, he's getting good experience and practice overseas.
If I was a Magic fan, I'd hate the dude. What a cop-out, he screwed the management and he knows it. His girlfriend must have him whipped. Just imagine if you could have drafted Sean May, Danny Granger or any of ther other bright Rookies left.

If he does, then he could have a bigger impact then those other guys that you mentioned. I think he does come over once he sees how much of a beast Dwight is, who wouldn't want to play next to Dwight?
