Should Iguodala take more shots? Don't you agree? I think half of the games he played so far he only took about 5-6 shot attempts.
I think the 76ers need to get him involved in the games more, and let him shoot more if his shot is there. Quite honestly I can see why he does not get that many attempts he is playing next to the leagues leading scorer, and Chris Webber who has really had a great start to the season so far. Iguodala is efficient though with his shots, and still averages about 14 points a night. He gets his shots when they are there, and does not force much. He touches the ball nine out of each ten possessions. We are winning though so I am not going to complain.
They are winning, that's all that matters. AI is making a push for MVP, Iggy will get his touches in time but it's not necessary at this point.
He's a guy that needs the ball in his hands to contribute. Not only he needs the ball to hit more shots but he's one of the best passers on this team and he's a smart player on the offensive end. Iguodala should be getting 10-13 shots a game but it won't happen as long as you have Iverson and Webber shooting 50 shots a game between them. Iguodala is #5 in the league in FG% so there's no question he should be getting more shots. A.I and CWebb as much as I hate to say it have to cut down on their shots. Webber should aim for about 12-16 a game and Iverson should aim from 15-20 they can spread the rest of them around not only Iguodala but Korver, Salmons, and Nailon.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">He's a guy that needs the ball in his hands to contribute.</div> Iggy does not need the ball to contribute. Look at his defence on Kobe in the Philly/LA match. He totally locked down Kobe with his stifling defence. So how can you say that he needs the ball to contribute? Bruce Bowen contributes to the San Antonio Spurs too without scoring much. His defence is what he contributes. However, I don't deny the fact that Iggy is a talented scorer and could very well be a consistent 20+ points scorer per night in the near future. But with AI and Webber as the vet's on the team Iggy just has to step aside and let them do their stuff. They're more experienced at this level of play and can carry the team to the playoffs if they carry on with their run. But like what the others said, we're winning. So yea, thats all that matters. Heck, I wouldn't even mind if Ai was averaging 10 TO's a game if we just keep winning.
I'm going to have to agree with Xuns, Iguodala does not need the ball to contribute. He can pass fairly well and set others up, he can rebound the ball good, and he plays defense, he is not the type of player that needs the ball in his hands to contribute.
I too also agree with Xuns. However, instead of Iguodala just taking more shots right off the bat, what would be is if he got some more touches. Everyone is starting to figure out who he is and the best way he can be more lethal is by getting a few touches. He doesn't have to score or get any assists, just touches. That would let the defense know that he may be up to something and that he is part of the offense and they just won't have to worry about AI, Webber and Korver at times. They will now have to be focused on the whole team. I noticed there are stretches when he, not Iverson is leading the team and dictating the offense then suddenly he would just dissapear, not just offensively but defensively. From what I've seen in the time that I've been watching basketball when your active on one end of the floor it's easier to get things going on the other end. It's not always true, but at times it is and in Iguodala case it is true. His offense hasn't really been there as of late and apparently so as his defense. So again, just getting him a few touches and making him feel more involved could possibly get him going on defense and eventually he could get everything going again. I'm not happy with the way he has been playing lately so hopefully things turn around. Lastly we must also realize that this team has been playing a lot of the last couple weeks. We just had a 4 game in 5 day stretch not too long ago and this short idle stretch that we have now(2 days off) is the longest since the 1st week of the season. I am about 90% sure we have played the most games so far this season out of any team, so maybe our guys are just a little worn out because that might also explain why Webber is starting to become a jump shooter again. Iverson as usual shows no ill affects from fatigue + the flu, the guy is truly amazing.
