But we are slipping in the standings. Phoenix has passed us and the Lakers and Kings are only 1 or 2 games below .500. This could be a tight race and we could end up last in the pacific division while still having a winning record...
Ah, the sky is falling! The sky is falling!!! (sorry, had to be done) Look, right now the Pacific standings are the exact opposite of what people predicted. I really doubt it's going to stay that way the rest of the year. That isn't to say things will go back to the way they've always been with the Lakers and Kings (and now the Suns) on top with the Clippers and Warriors bringing up the rear. But the Pacific is still a tough division with a lot of good (not great) teams in it. It's going to be a dogfight all year long.
It's all about momentum. Our next 8 games at home should be a good place to pick up wins. It's still early. Just look at the Rockets (3 and 9). There's no way anybody would think they could suck that bad when they have T-mac and Yao and their first year together was a winning season. But, I guess once they lose that perimeter threat, it makes it tougher for the big man to score inside double and triple teams. Injuries have a way of doing that. Right now, I think Baron is just playing injured. It's like with what happend with Nick Van Exel who decided to come back too early. He showed some flashes of making a huge difference, but the whole team struggles when the guy that makes our offense go is just hobbled. We don't have any other player that is killer on isolations and we're not good enough off the ball to use a pass first point guard like Aaron Miles. The trade for Baron Davis wasn't perfect, but at least we've kept our core together and have continued to pick well in the draft and Baron Davis semi-healthy is still better than Fisher at starting point guard. If we had a Speedy Claxton type backup point guard that would be perfect for us. Then penetrating the zone or defending the Telfairs, Tony Parkers and TJ Fords wouldn't be so daunting of a task. We need to finish inside better or get fouled and you need to be both quick and smart for that.
Sorry, but at this point, I'll take Fisher over Speedy anyday. Speedy did a lot of things Fish cannot, but Speedy couldn't hit a three to save his life and Fish's stats thus far are far superior to what Speedy did for us. Wouldn't you agree?
It is going to be a dog fight for sure. I doubt the Clippers will stay this hot all season long and I doubt the Kings will be this bad for the rest of the season too...
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting AnimeFANatic:</div><div class="quote_post">Fisher has been hot hot hot from 3pt land The dude is clutch</div> How long can he stay hot like this? When will he go back to his old self?
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Warriorfansnc93:</div><div class="quote_post">How long can he stay hot like this? Speedy couldn't hit a 3 to save his life, but he could work his way to the line, was nearly unstoppable one-on-one, and played pesky defense. His problem was that he was never healthy and had very little court vision to be an effective interior passer. Once he drove it was going up, but good things happened because it was inside the paint at least and it forced defenses to collapse on to him because they couldn't contain him. It sure got the W's into the free throw bonus a lot of times. Also when Speedy gambled on a steal, he usually came up with it. Baron is trying to steal the ball but he keeps coming up with squat and getting beat.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting AnimeFANatic:</div><div class="quote_post">Fishers catch and shoot is automatic, no stopping it.</div> At shooting guard he is dynamite. Without him we'd have nobody who could deliver on que like that late in games. If we make the playoffs, I expect to see more of that from him. He gets results when Baron Davis is the point guard, the ball is moving, and there are double teams somewhere else.

As time goes on I'm sure Ike will draw tons of double/triple teams.
