The thread title says it all who do you think should start when Samuel Dalembert gets back? I will say Samuel Dalembert will start, simply because we paid him 60 million dollars so we have to start him, but I don?t feel right about just demoting Steven Hunter after the job he has done as the starter.

Samuel Dalambert was rewarded with 60 million dollars this off season based on nothing if not potential. Dalembert averaged 8.2 points last season the same amount of points that Steven Hunter is averaging right now. The only thing that SD is really superior to Hunter in is the rebounding department, but even if he is coming off the bench he can still do that. Samuel has unlimited potential of course, but should he just be handed the starting spot over a player who has been working hard, and playing well for our team. I don?t think so, but will he? Probably, because he is a 60 million dollar investment.

If I where Cheeks however, I would bring Dalembert off the bench for the first two weeks he is back just to see how well he performs off the bench. Sort of like what the Clippers are doing with Corey Maggette right now. Who knows maybe it might plant a seed in his mind that he has to earn the spot back, and he might perform better. So back to the original question should Steven Hunter be removed from the starting rotation when Samuel returns?

sammy is not worth the money he got..but anyways i think he should start rather than steven hunter. However, hunter should be given 15+ minutes a night off the bench

By default, Dalembert is most likely going to be benched for the first couple games in order to ween him back into the system and into the run of things. I mean, the guy hasn't seen any true basketball action so far this season and he might not have fully learned Cheeks' system or be fully healed. With that said, its most likely he's going to get the nod over Hunter if Dalembert works hard to work back into the flow of things. However, things are a bit complicated after it was rumored that Dalembert was supposedly delaying his return due to Jerome James'itis. If thats not true, which I sure as hell hope is not, Dalembert is going to earn the starting spot for several reasons. Like you said above BKS, he has a huge paycheck and most likely the organization is going to want him to live up to his potential. More playing time he gets, the better he should get in theory. Plus, after that spectacular playoff series against Detroit, Dalembert has shown he can work in the low post against some of the best defenders and from reports, has been developing his offensive game.

Honestly, I am kind of dissapointed in Dalembert. The 76ers signed him to a huge contract, and he gets hurt running sprints. Isn't that something? Good thing Philly signed Hunter because he has been playing pretty well for the Sixers. Dalembert could be back any day now, and I think it will be interesting to see if Dalembert will come back and get the sarting spot, or work his way into the starting lineup. If Sam isn't playing at a high level, the 76ers need to just stay with Hunter. The only problem with that is that Dalembert is a better rebounder, and rebounding is a critical problem for the Sixers right now so that may give Sam the nod. The Sixers desprately need a strong Dalembert back, if they can get him putting up 15 and 10 then I'd be more than happy. But if Dalembert comes in playing below or at the level of Hunter, then to the bench he goes.

That's basically how they stack up against each other imo. With injuries aside and the whole process of Dalmebert having to work himself back in, at the end of the day Sammy is clearly the better player. Why? Well they are both big men and both guys main objective is grab boards and block shots. And it's not till today where I look at Hunter stat line for the last two games and noticed those were his first double-doubles of this season and 12 boards being his career high. I then reminisced about the 1st Round and remember how Dalembert was blocking 2+ shots per game and averaging 12 boards against a monstrous front court. That ultimately separated the two in my eyes. And we've seen Dalembert a lot since he's been here and it's really no question who should be starting. We just forgot about what Sammy brought to this team and hearing about him all inured and what not and then seeing Hunter with nice highlights, decent stat line made us forget even more. Just ask yourself this, would you trade Dalembert for Hunter?

But at the end of the day, I’m so happy that we got the two most athletic(but unfortunately raw) centers in this league. When Webber sits, imagine the defense and rebounding we will get with the both of them playing simultaneously.
