For as long as I can remember, Dallas has needed a center and a backup center..we finally got that in Dampier and Diop

So, what are we missing now? Does Doug Christie leave in a gaping hole?

So simply put, what type of player do we need on the team? A Brent Barry would be ideal, in my mind.

A healthy Stackhouse will fill that gap IMO..Howard and Daniels have been playing well lately, but sooner or later we need that extra scorer in the line-up. Avery and the team management have already ruled out signing Spreewell, so the team will highly benefit with Stack recovering soon. Anyone know what's the latest on Stack's progress? There were some news last week that he's started to practice a bit, but when is he expected to play?

I think our team is great the way it is and there is no reason to mess up the team chemistry. If anything we need a backup shooting guard behind Daniels....

    Possible Christie replacements (free agents)

Latrell Sprewell: Mark Cuban and Avery Johnson have already said "No."

Felipe Lopez: Bounced around the league and hasn't stuck.

Wesley Person: Veteran 3-point shooter with playoff experience.

Rodney White: Didn't work out in Denver or Golden State.

Casey Jacobsen: Good size (6-6), shoots the 3 and is only 24.

Dajuan Wagner: Undersized and always hurt -- bad combo.

Glenn Robinson: Big Dog had some bite with Spurs last season.

Erick Strickland: Former Maverick cut in training camp.

Adrian Griffin: Also knows his way around Mavs locker room.

Kerry Kittles: Last name rhymes with brittle.

Jeryl Sasser: SMU-ex and former first-rounder flamed out in Orlando.

Sorry but I'd pass on every body. Right now we are just fine. Before I would of thought if Stack came back it would hurt minute wise. But now I can see that Avery has finally figured out that either Damp or Diop has to be on the floor. They ran Nowitzki at the 5 against the heat but that wasnt for long. Keith is now our back-up 4 and 3. Stack coming back will be good for Josh Howard and Marquis. Christie's Leaving is not a factor at all.

    My thoughts

What a dissapointment, I was gearing up for a healthy Christie (in pre-season, Cuban said he looked amazing) to help out with the defence and even some playmaking. He has been waived, and thats a waste of more than half our MLE and I'm quite annoyed.

Although, his injury thrusted Marquis Daniels into the starting lineup and that has been a success..so it's like that old saying "When a door shuts, another one opens".

I believe any hole we have (which at the moment, seems to be instant offense/creating free throws) will be filled be injured Jerry Stackhouse when he gets back, which is hopefully soon. I think he just started training again, recently.

Theres 96 minutes at the 2-3 spot, they should be divied up
    - Howard (35)
    - Daniels (30)
    - Stackhouse (25)
    - Rawle Marshall, Josh Powell (combined 11)

My last point, is possible players we could get
    - Ruben Patterson (cursed out Nate, but if we don't want Spree we probably don't want Ruben)
    - George Lynch (good defense)
    - Darvin Ham (good guy to put in if we want to get aggressive)
