I just heard on the radio that the trade that would send Rose to NY for Penny is heating up. What are your opinions towards this trade?

IMO i would send Rose for either Penny or AD anyday. Rose is not playing well for us now, so it really wont make a difference. Sending rose for Penny would take 15 mill off our books after this season. With this 15 mill, we can resign Bosh and get a solid Centre. Plus we would be able to start Charlie or Graham at SF and develop our younger guys.

Looking @ the way the raps are playing lately, we will be a lottery team 100%so why not spend this season developing our younger guys and getting big contracts off our shoulders?

Im not sold on the raptors youth movement scheme, so I'd like this deal and in a sense I'd hate it. Rose is one of the few veterans on this team and he doesnt fit what Larry Brown wants to do in New York so I cant see this deal going through, this years draft was the only thing Babcocks done good so far and I dont see him making another big move to benefit the club just yet. Ya know? I just dont expect it from Babcock, and the Knicks perspective is just whack, why would they need another swingman who plays e-fence without the D?

Buckets, why are you still judging Babs on his Hoffa move, which still hasn't panned out yet. He's not as bad of a GM that everyone thought, acquiring Mike James was an amazing move statiscally and financially for the future. The VC deal had to be done as well...

Please don't say any garbage like Babs will never be able to make another good move as you've stated.

I never said never, Im just saying I dont expect him do make another big move just yet, it may be closer to the deadline which is still quite a way's away. And Im not judging him by the Hoffa move, I still think that could pan out. I was mad about the VC trade, but Im not anymore cause it doesnt really matter now, whats done is done.

if it is Rose and a draft pick...even a 2nd I think I'd be happy. Rose can still be productive so we can't just throw him away for Penny who I can't see helping us at all. Saw this on TSN.ca

Dorell Wright is back on the trade block in Miami, along with backup C Michael Doleac, according to the Miami Herald.

Thought that we could then offer a second to Miami for Wright. Another young guy with potential to develop. Why not embrace the youth movement completely????

ESPN last night said the Knicks backed out of this deal because Larry Brown didn't want to coach Jalen Rose again. He coached him in Indiana, and they had a rocky relationship there. I'm not sure what other offers the Raptors will get for Rose.

mike james trade is a trade that has to be done...toronto is lucky to get a taker. Besides, mike james is on his contract year i believe and he is doing well right now because toronto is so bad...

and he can play well so that he can play himself OUT of toronto to go for a contender next year...afterall he is 31 next year.

    You call that amazing trade?

i still have mixed feelings about trading rose now or keeping him for the 07season(shipping him here or wait for him to expire)

Its pretty amazing due to the fact of who you guys got rid of to get James. Mike is averaging 17/5, and u mentioned his age. Can i remind you that his APG and PPG this year are his career bests. He shows no fatigue either because he's playing 35 minutes a night. On the other hand Rafer has been disapointing for Houston. It was a steal for the Raptors.

Hey, he got rid of Rafer, didn't he? James is a HUGE upgrade over Alston. And James being in his contract year could benefit the Raps. He most likely won't pick up his player option, so Babcock could deal him to a playoff team at the deadline for a young player or a pick.

Mike James aldready has a ring (from the Pistons club)
so he isnt that desperate to go and play for a contender team
he's a good guy and his chance of staying with the club is probably 50%

and yes--i did hear it on Fan

I know he isn't desperate, but do you really think he'll stay on one of the worst teams in the NBA, instead of trying to go to a playoff/championship contender?

Winning a ring is like taking drugs. Nobody can truly escape the temptation, but its harder to forget about the more you've experienced it.

I'm sure Mike James wants a ring just as badly as every other player in the league.

I am not saying he is not good
yeah i prefer him over rafer that's for sure
However, it doesn't mean anything because i don't see him staying for long
I mentioned the age thing not to say he's old

i mention it to show that he's a veteran...the older you get, the more you want it (eg. even a great guy like marshall got horny over a ring, what make you think mike james can resist the temptation)[IMG]

what do you guys think of corie blount? 5 yrs, 28 mil...pretty young solid center, proven...and well, i guess not. with the way things are going right, i think rose has to go, even though be brings a lot more to the table than penny anyday.

noo blount's contract is too big for us to accept
we're trying to rebuild and get rid of contracts
i would rather keep rose..his contract expires in 07
and maybe we can even get Magloire in 07

Man, but maybe we can use Blount since we certainly/desperately need a true big man, then just see what else we can grab in two years time...I dunno, maybe its cause I'm so down seeing the Raps go down like this.
