Jason Collins can defend, something Marc Jackson cant do. And no Jackson should not be a starter...he has done nothing to make me even think he is in contest to start...Cliff Robinson has more of an arguement to be a starter then Jackson...mainly because he is as good Collins as a on-ball defender. And he is healthier then Collins, so he is more consistently in the lineup. But even Cliff will never be named the everyday starter over Collins, because Collins throws his body around more on the backboards....and quiet frankly Ronbinson at this stage of his career is not the clear cut better player between the two. And for all Collins has done for us over the 4 years he has been here, I think you only replace him as a starter, if the guy the guy you are replacing him with is clearly better. And their isnt a bigman on the Nets roster that fits that bill, so Collins spot will remain safe.

No I don't like having Marc Jackson start. He can't provide the little things that Collins does. Collins may not be the best PF in the leagur but we are better having him start than Jackson.

What does Vaughn have to do with this thread. Should he get more playing time as a PF?

I cannot think of one reason Marc Jackson should start for this team. I don't know about you, but I haven't been impressed with him, and especially not with his hustle. But then, he doesn't really bother to try and impress, so what can you expect? There is no player on this team more competent to start than Collins, and perhaps therein lies the problem. Unfortunately, this offseason's attempt at replacing him was thwarted, but at least they seemed serious about his replacement. Maybe we'll see the next in line this offseason, who knows? But Jackson is uniquely qualified to not only not play power forward, but barely show up to play center as well. When I say that, I only mean that Jackson really couldn't defend fours well, and doesn't really hit the boards hard enough to warrant his starting, nor does Uncle Cliffy, though I would favor him over Jackson.

If you watch the Nets play you see Collins setting screens, playing in the offense, knowing his role, etc. He plays smart. Marc Jackson isn't half the basketball player Collins is from bball IQ perspective. If there's a problem with the Nets it's that they don't have a post-up guy on the frontline. If RJ could post up a la Sheed or Jermaine, they would be much improved.
