I was reading hoopshype rumors today and there was an article about how the Bulls should have patience. The article talked about how Rashard Lewis will be a free agent in 2 summers I believe and I think it was saying that maybe the bulls should hold off on some of their cap room for future seasons, I was wondering what you think...

Personally, I do not want to overpay a free agent this year while we have cap space for the soul reason of getting a free agent, but I don't know if waiting is the answer. This year we have about 20 million in cap space and no big expensive free agents needing resigning. If we hold that cap space for the future, the problem is that we will have to eat into our cap space to resign players like hinrich, gordon, sweetney, deng, when if we used the cap space now we could just use their bird rights to go over the cap

We really do not have that much cap room, 20 million is a lot of money don’t get me wrong, but we have so many young players that will hit free agency in the near future that we have to keep money to sign them. I don’t know how willing the Bulls will be to hold off money two summers to sign Rashard Lewis the media really seems to be trying to make up as many rumors as they can about an all star going to Chicago. If the Bulls ever did trade for a legitimate already established all star then the media would have a field day covering the entire situation. I hope we just resign our young guys make a few tweaks here and there, and see where we can go from there. Unless it is a immediate impact player like what Shaq did for Miami then I think the best thing for us to do is see how good our young players get.

well we can use the 20 million this and next off season then use bird rights to go over the cap to sign the other players.

The only way it would make sense for the bulls to give a free agent a big contract offer, is if we could get a proven low post scorer, one that could be a nr. 1 scoring option. That is, in my opinion, the only area we need help in if we want to be a title contender. All other positions a covered wih our young guys.

Unfortunately, no such player will be available next summer. The only possibility would have been Nene, but he is out for the season, and so will not be able to prove that he has a solid offensive game. That makes him too much of a risk for me.

So i would choose for the patient approach...
