<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Terry Stotts hears the suggestions from those calling for more playing time for one player or another, and the Milwaukee Bucks' coach has a simple response: "It's 240 minutes," he said. "And that's generally when whoever - whether it's an assistant (coach) or a fan or somebody - says so-and-so should be playing more, the question is, OK, for whom? Because those minutes have to come from somewhere. It's easy to say someone should play more, but at the expense of whose minutes?" Stotts admits that the team's rotation is a work in progress, but stresses that he's continuing to try to settle on a nine- and possibly 10-man rotation. The starting five of T.J. Ford, Michael Redd, Jamaal Magloire, Joe Smith - when healthy - and Bobby Simmons has pretty much been set. Andrew Bogut and Mo Williams are constants off the bench. But after that, the playing time for Jiri Welsch, Charlie Bell, Toni Kukoc and Dan Gadzuric has depended on injuries, the opponent, foul trouble and which way the wind is blowing. Ervin Johnson has solidified his role as the team's 12th man. The Bucks pride themselves in the team's depth and Stotts is trying to take full advantage of it. "When you have a healthy roster, something's got to give," Stotts said. "And that's why you have a deep team, so when that time comes. . . . No team goes through the season with no one getting hurt. So you just have to be ready for that time." </div> Source
There is some truth to what Terry is saying. Everyone's saying he's a moron for not playing Bogut, but a) there are plenty of options, and Magloire has been arguably a better defensive presence, which is HUGE for this team that otherwise appears not to give a crap about D and he's had some off nights, and when that happens, despite it hurting his overall development, this is a team that can win now, so why worry about getting him 35 minutes a night? He'll develop a bit more slowly, and probably be a better player for it. The thing that is confusing me the most is the lack of playing time for Danny Gadzuric. The guy quite honestly saved our ass a few times last year (can you imagine where we'd have been without him being a terror in the paint?), yet we aren't playing him. We signed him to such a big contract that I think we must either find him some more playing time (probably not going to happen) or trade him for some defensive help on the wing. Maybe Phoenix would be interested in some more frontcourt depth in return for Boris Diaw...probably not. But you get the idea. We NEED defensive help, and with so much depth up front, we might as well use it to get us some help defensively, because I don't know how much more lazy defense I'm going to be able to stomach this year.
