Mavs 93 Raptors 91 Grades: Del Calls it with 2 Seconds Left

Mavs came out strong with no Josh Howard and nearly no Dirk. Jason Terry carries the Mavs in a strong first period as JET plays shooting guard to Darrell Armstrong at point. The Mavs falter in the second period as the Raptors punish the Mavs 27 to 16 on their way to halftime. It could have been much worse as Devin Harris was basically the only Maverick to show up in the second. After a sad first half with only 5 points to his credit, Dirk got going in the second half with 24 points. Jason did an excellent job of backing him up with 26 points for the game, but the game winning play with only 2 seconds left was the brainchild of Del Harris. The Mavs advanced the ball after their timeout then called another timeout once they saw the Raptors set. Marquis passed the ball into to Jason who (almost too) calmly dribbled up the lane and hung a floater with 6/10ths of a second left.

FSSW : C, The only thing that rescued them was the Raptor Dance Pak. +24

Harris: A, Avery gave all the credit to his number one assistant, Del.

Daniels: C+, Marquis was back t acting like a rookie with a couple of highlight plays followed with the incredible inability to make layups. Still, Marquis? defense on Peterson can be considered key to the Mavs winning. +7

Nowitzki: B+, Not bad output for Dirk, especially considering he only really played in the second half. Game high honors with 29 points and shared game high honors of 11 rebounds with Erick. His fifth assist to Devin on the block was a sweet laser. Zero turnovers. +34

Dampier: B, Another decent game by Erick, his second in a row! Shared game high boards (11) with Dirk, and like Dirk, another shocker : Zero turnovers. +15

Terry: A, Jason bounced back from as sub-par game to have one of his better games of this young season. Jason carried the Mavs for most of the game with timely treys on his way to 26 points. Terry also led the Mavs with 6 assists against Zero turnovers. +28

Armstrong : C+, Darrell got the start tonight with Josh out. Playing against Mike James might have had something to do with it as well. Darrell didn?t exactly stop James, but you could argue that DA frustrated Mike just enough to help the Mavs win. Zero turnovers. +5

Van Horn: C+, With Dirk not feeling it early, Keith came to the rescue, sort of. Keith got 8 points and 8 rebounds and a blocked shot. +9

Diop: C+, DeSagana fought hard but again was limited by foul trouble. Diop hit his only shot and controlled the paint with 3 blocked shots and who knows how many intimidations. +5

Harris: B+, Devin carried the Mavs in the second period and was key down the stretch. He?s even learning he doesn?t have to dunk the ball every time in the lane. Harris had 16 points on 7-11 shooting from the field. +14
