Andrew Bynum I haven't started a thread on this board in ages, but I was curious to find out about everyone's impression of him so far. I know he hasn't had much PT and hasn't been able to do much yet, but so far I am very impressed. He seems to be very comfortable on the floor and hasn't seemed to hesistate taking shots. Most of all what has impressed me the most is his defense. He still has a way to go to being a great defender but he has shown a lot more on that end than I expected from a just turned 18 player out of HS. He moves very well on help defense and also hits the boards well. Anyways, I was curious to see what everyone else has thought so far.
My thoughts exactly. His defense is pretty good, he even ranks second in the league in blocks/48 minutes. I think he also gets the concept of the triangle offense pretty well, and he always seems to be looking to pass before attacking. I just hope Phil will let him play a bit more, so his game can develop.
I think he will only get better. So far he's been getting better as the games go on, looks as if he immediatly learns from his mistakes.
I see a future all-star, maybe even superstar, in Bynum. He is EXTREMELY young, and he has moves like Shaq. Give him four or five seasons more to mature, and he will be up there for one of the best centers in the league.
I won't make a super-star prediction yet, but man, I think everyone has been pretty impressed by this young guy playing at such an important position inlcuding me. His defense is improving, he's rebounding skills as well, and his pass-before-shoot mentality is good. He's young and his mind is like a sponge (haha) so I guess it's easier for him to learn the Triangle as opposed to let's say K. Brown.
So far Bynum has been a nice surprise. He looks slow at times but I heard he’s still growing. (1/4 of a inch since draft day) So when he grows into his body I think he’ll have what it takes to be a solid player.
I've been really impressed- I'm not sure what game it was but he came in and grabbed like 2 boards and missed a couple of shots in like 2 minutes. We need agressiveness like that, when those shots start going down he'll be a monster.
His defense is pretty decent, although I haven't seen much of him at all. You should make a thread in a month or two about Bynumy you halfie!
whatup Daniel, i didn't know you still posted here. I'm sure I will bring this same topic up in a few months again but I just wanted to know everyone elses thoughts on him so far. I've been pretty impressed because of the fact that it seemed like everyone was so quick to tag him as a bust (like they did with Frye) but I've only seen positives from him so far.
So far according to box scores and the few minutes I've seen him play he seems to be a defensively oriented player. I just see him getting boards and blocking shots, his offensive game doesnt seem to be too good right now but that can be worked on, its better to be working on his offense with him than his defense. I didnt like how high they took him but you never know he could end up being a real good player for them in the future, and he doesnt seem too bad right now.
at 6mpg he's only .02 behind the highest rookie average from a guy recording 25mpg, so i guess u could say that. But hes played so little that its pretty hard to say whos the best rookie blocker
I think Phil Jackson should start him and let him play for the first 5-7 minutes. It will loosen him up I think.
I know its a bit early in his career to discuss this.....but I wanted to know what people think about Bynum. So far I've seen great potential in him and it seems like he'll fit that missing factor in the Lakers in a few seasons. As each game passes my faith in him increases. I honostly see a future All Star and someone who could lead the Lakers to great things. What do you guys think?
he is a player that has a ton of potential. as far as becoming the future for the lakers? im not so sure, but he will, mark my words, will turn into a decent player. after all, didnt you see the game tonight? he scored 6 points, grabbed 6 boards with 2 blocks. it seems to me that every game he plays in he gets at least a block or so. to make things even better, he's only 18, he's 7 feet tall and will hopefully still grow, and he's learning from the best in kareem.
I already started a topic about the exact same thing 4-5 days ago... just so you know. http://www.justbball.com/forums/showthread.php?t=46568
