<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Waterworks03:</div><div class="quote_post">All of the things that all of you say Jim and Bob say are true. However, watching the games on NBA League Pass there are many times when the games are broadcast using the opposing teams announcers. I am always taken back by those announcers' lack of knowledge of the Warriors. I think that Jim and Bob might be overly enthusiastic but I think they are among one of the better TV teams that does their homework.

You are right on the money. We've been spoiled because there's not many other good basketball commentators out there to cover one particular team. I guess when it comes to calling games, I like a different style. I think announcers have to concentrate less on the tidbits or opinions, more on calling what is happening out on the floor that moment. I guess the color commentary that I do like is stuff from Mike Fratello or Marv Albert. They just get to the point without overhyping or defending certain players. They won't go off on tangents or nitpick certain plays so much. If the color commentators call games in a way that the general audience can't disagree with, I think they're doing it all right. They just have to be exciting as well.

I am probably one of the biggest Barnett fans on this board. Yes, he promotes Dunleavy too much. But I think that has more to do with Dunleavy being a Barnett type of player. Barnett and I have pretty similar views on what good basketball is.

It's the team over the individual, making the right pass, doing all the little things that show up in the box score, and not thumping your chest every time you score.

Couldn't agree more with you Walker. I also believe that these are the reasons that Mullin has kept Dunleavy.

Sure, he knows what good basketball is. He even talks good about the superstars that can break a guy down one on one. If you were to flip him on once or twice then there'd be no reason to nag about him. The problem is, we hear about the same fundamentals every game for years. The one that we hear the most is how you should come in at an angle for a layup or use the rim on a reverse layup to keep the shot blocker from getting to the ball. Honestly, if you were never coached in basketball, those are good things to know. So it's hard to rip a guy for teaching the game.

I forgot about the angle/reverse hand comment! You gotta love the guy for his consistency...[IMG]

As a tribute to my favorite of all time, the late, great Bill King, "and Barry made him paint the ceiling on that fake..."

Jim Barnett should start working out then become a ref, the dude sees everything.

Nah, he admits that it's easy for him to make these calls since he's got the convenience of instant replay and doesn't have the pressure to make a call. He's a smart fellow, he is.

If Barnett were a ref he'd be giving Dunleavy tons of superstar calls. Which would be great since Dun gets shafted quite a bit anyway. What can he do? I guess if he didn't develop such a reputation as a Duke flopper refs might lay off him. Dunleavy's game is part finesse/part Shakespeare. He's so soft looking at times, you assume it's only for show, but he really gets tossed around like a ragdoll. Plus he's hardly aggressive. So you can imagine it was a treat to see him do well in the first half, right before missing 3 shots in a row in the 2nd and then heating up again. Barnett then argues, "Oh it's because he didn't get enough touches to keep his rhythm up".

Kinda true, but it just hammers back to how defensive Barnett is about Dunleavy.

Honestly, we should have gone more with Dunleavy because Richardson just gets shutout when Marion is on him. There must be some kind of stats Kwan can dig up when Shawn Marion is matched up with Richardson. The Matrix is a J-Rich stopper.

Shawn Marion is The Matrix. He sees everything J-Rich does in slow motion then stops him. "qu qu qu qu qu"

At the end of the 3rd qtr, 26 secs left, score tied, Warriors should end qtr at least tied, Fisher brings the ball up, dribbles down the clock, Barnett says "Dunleavy should have the ball..." Fisher promptly turns the ball over, fastbreak other way, Suns hit 2 fts, then Fisher brings it up again and charges. Two killer turnovers.

Now I thought Barnett might have been kissing Dunleavy a bit but he was right, Fisher is not a wind the clock down PG, he's a catch and shoot shooter, that's it. Pretty good D too.

Yeah, Dunleavy was the hot hand. Aside from the fact he's a streaky 3-point shooter, the guy plays with his eyes open. He probably would have found something nicer for somebody else or got a shot off closer to the rim.
