<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">For a guy whose chances of sticking in the NBA depend upon his ability to fluster opponents with jet-propulsion energy and greyhound hustle, slowing down hasn't been easy for Andre Owens. But it may be the most important lesson of his monthlong career.
"You can't play exhausted - that's what I learned," the Jazz's rookie guard said. "When I first got here, I was just giving everything I had until I died out there. I sort of figured out, you can't play like that."
Not that he plans to temper the all-out style that earned him this shot in the first place. He's just learning to pick his spots more wisely.
"I'm starting to understand how to maintain my energy," Owens said. "The NBA's a lot different from college - everybody has supreme talent. So you have to stay steady, try to get rid of the ups and downs."
Not such an easy assignment, since rookie life is full of those roller-coaster moments. And Owens already has experienced several of them.
Twice, the 25-year-old Indianapolis native has shocked Jazz opponents with breakout performances - a 15-point night in Toronto that probably made the difference between victory and defeat, and Thursday's 11-point splash that powered Utah's fourth-quarter comeback against the Los Angeles Lakers.</div>

I love his game, and aggression on the court. He came right in to the Laker game and didn't hesistate to start shooting and drive to the basket. AO plays with a lot of confidence and energy on the court, and is a nice change of pace to Deron Williams methodical play. Once AO improves his shot selection, he's going to be a very solid backup for the Jazz.
