When VC was traded to New Jersey, a lot of people argued that it would be a new lease on life for him. In Toronto, Vince's last few years were characterised by disinterested play and a willingness to hang around the outside and not attack the basket. I know that VC's first season in Jersey sparked a bit of a renaissance in his play, which most expected, but in looking at his numbers I noticed some patterns that I think should trouble Nets' fans, but I must admit some of the interpretation is a little blind since I don't get to see Nets game consistently up here in Canada When I look at VC's numbers I notice that his FG% is down across the board and that the projection for his FT Attempts looks like it will fall in the low 400's, possibly high 300's. What I'm wondering is if VC is once again hangin around on the periphery and failing to attack the net. You can't really trust what you see in highlight reels because even when Vince was playing indifferently in Toronto, you might not have gotten that sense in the reels, because he is adept at generating individual highlight worthy plays on a consistent basis, but many nights those highlights weren't really representative of the body of work that he provided from game to game Just wondering what the Jersey take is on VC's play Have fun......................
I'm no Nets fan but living in the tri-state area and watching every single Nets game, I have to VC is starting to resemble the VC prior to the trade. He is taking many outside shots again, but the other game he made a good attempt to get to the FT. When I look at the big picture he is playing very lackadaisical right now, there seems to be a lack of motivation/energy. When the trade first went down there was an aura of excitement with him and Kidd on the floor now it feels as if it's an every day thing and it's just another game. Not to mention he's had a couple tick tack ankle injuries and gave Nets fans a few scares so far on a couple occasions. So that might play a role. All in all, ultimately I think things will turn around for the Nets and that sense of excitement will reemerge and he will start to perform like the VC of late last season because that is what?s missing.
He's definitely not the 16 ppg VC that we traded last season, but I agree that VC is playing a lot like he did in 03-04. That motivation that he brought in the middle of last season seems to be gone. He's still one of the better players in the league, but seems to be passive at times.
Iam not going to say that Vince is a nut to the existent of a Kobe....but I will say that it seems that if he has to share the spotlight or isnt the focus point of the offense every trip offensively, he doesnt play as hard in other areas. At least last year, dude you to give an effort on defense, to me it doesnt even seem like he tries now. I dont expect him to be a great defender because he never has been..also the parts & make up of this team will allow people's indivual defensive ablities to look worst at times...but I can tell when someone isnt giving effort and that is the vibe I consistently find myself getting from Vince alot.
they were talking about that last game why hes not doing so well and they asked lawrence frank and lawrence frank told him to be a ball hog like he was in his golden years then vince replyed ill try but i dont want the others guys to get mad cause im not the only scorer on this team like i was in toronto
why does vince carter suck this year i dont think he is gonna be an allstar either y doesnt he play as good as he did last year now
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting vcwannabe15:</div><div class="quote_post">why does vince carter suck this year i dont think he is gonna be an allstar either y doesnt he play as good as he did last year now</div> With Jefferson back and more players add, he doesn't have the ball all the time. He isn't the only player that can score. In the Bobcats game, he took over and proved he is good and can still play like he did last season
