<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The second blockbuster trade in two years is expected to go down, probably sometime in February before the trading deadline. Former MVP and perennial All-Star forward Kevin Garnett may be on his way out of Minnesota less than two years after the Los Angeles Lakers traded Shaquille O'Neal to the Miami Heat. The combination of Garnett's enormous contract and frustration over losing may provoke the Timberwolves to trade their centerpiece and start from scratch. "That's all on management," Garnett told the St. Paul (Minn.) Pioneer Press. "It has nothing to do with me. But right now, I'm just focusing on making this team better." But the team that trades for Garnett -- who will make $18 million this season, $84 million through the 2008-09 season -- had better be careful. The lure of getting one of the NBA's greatest ever might lead to a team draining its roster to get him. The reason trading for O'Neal was able to work for Miami was the Heat didn't have to give up Dwyane Wade. The Warriors didn't have to give up Jason Richardson to get point guard Baron Davis. Any team that trades for Garnett needs to find a way to keep a couple stars, otherwise it will end up in the same position the Timberwolves are in now. Garnett, considered to be too selfish at times, has proved he can't win alone. Nor does he want to try to. "As long as the organization is trying to better the team and better the future for this team and the city, I'm here," Garnett told the Pioneer Press. "I just want to win. I just want to be on a team that's going to compete for a championship, not just talk about it but actually start to make moves toward that direction." Should Garnett be traded, whichever team lands him will need to spend money on the supporting cast, which means it would be well over the salary cap. So "Da Kid" is more likely to land with a team unafraid to flirt with or pay the luxury tax. Here are some hypothetical trades that would land Garnett without decimating a team's talent (at least a first-round draft pick to Minnesota is a given in any scenario): Los Angeles Lakers: Sending Garnett to Hollywood for forwards Lamar Odom and Devean George and rookie center Andrew Bynum would benefit both teams, especially if Odom gets going at some point. The Lakers would get a superstar to pair with Kobe Bryant, one unselfish enough to not be bothered by Bryant's presence. Minnesota would get talent in Odom, a $5 million expiring contract in George and a promising project in Bynum. Boston Celtics: Garnett could join the Celtics' great history of big men if Boston executive director of basketball operations Danny Ainge could get his Minnesota counterpart, Kevin McHale, to take forwards Raef LaFrentz and Al Jefferson, and guards Ricky Davis and Tony Allen. The Timberwolves would get some young talent in Jefferson and Allen, if he's still with Boston after his off-court issues are settled. They'd also get immediate perimeter help in Davis and a serviceable big man in LaFrentz. New York Knicks: Garnett and Stephon Marbury can be reunited in probably the simplest of deals. New York can send guard Anfernee Hardaway and forward/center Antonio Davis to Minnesota for K.G. and forward Wally Szczerbiak. The Timberwolves would be getting $29.6 million worth of expiring contracts, plenty money to be a major player in the free agent market. The Knicks have the deep pockets to afford such an acquisition, plus they'd still have plenty of talent with which to make moves. Dallas Mavericks : The Timberwolves might be enticed by a package of forward Keith Van Horn, forward Josh Howard and swingman Jerry Stackhouse for Garnett and guard Troy Hudson. Minnesota would get a $15.7 million expiring contract with Van Horn, one of the better young small forwards in the league in Howard, and a quality veteran in Stackhouse whose contract is up after next season. Dallas would have a front line of Garnett, Nowitzki and Erick Dampier. Sacramento Kings: The Kings could give up three starters in center Brad Miller, forward Shareef Abdur-Rahim and guard Bonzi Wells and still have point guard Mike Bibby and small forward Peja Stojakovic to play with Garnett. Minnesota would get one of the league's most productive centers in Miller, a capable posting forward in Abdur-Rahim and an $8 million expiring contract in Wells. With small forward Francisco Garcia in tow, Sacramento perhaps can afford to give up Stojakovic instead of Wells if the Timberwolves insist.</div> Source
Kevin Garnett for Kendrick Perkins, Al Jefferson, Orien Greene and Ricky Davis. Boston gets Garnett to pair up with Pierce, and Minnesota adds some young talent to build a solid nucleus. PG - Orien Greene SG - Rashad McCants SF - Ricky Davis PF - Al Jefferson C - Kendrick Perkins
T-Mac For KG I love T-Mac, but I love the idea of KG and Yao side by side a lor more. If not then Swift, Juwan, and Rafer For KG

KG will not be traded to any team in the West. No team is going to give up the players the TWolves would demand in return, and Minny is not about to trade a superstar within their conference. I still think the Knick deal makes the most sense for the TWolves, because they get to completely rebuild and unload Wally in the process.
You know, I bet the Wolves would like Jamaal Magloire at center more than they would Kandi man... Hey McHale, how about this? Jamaal Magloire / Mo Williams/ Joe Smith for Kevin Garnett / Troy Hudson / Trenton Hassel ??? EDIT: on second thought, you guys might not want Joe Smith...lol

KG and Bosh, Teacher and mentor...make it happen mchale. make it happen, if not now....at the trade deadline then.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting babybulls:</div><div class="quote_post">i think that's more of a dream than a proposal</div> Exactly, there is no way that KG would get traded to Houston. It's hilarious to me that someone thinks the Wolves would be dumb enough to pair KG up with Tmac and Yao.
I was kind of surprised to see the Bulls not mentioned given all the cap space they'll have. Then again, I don't think the Bulls really have any stars, they only have potential. It'll be interesting to see how this unfolds.
Francis, Hill and a pick for KG and Wally? Orlando Magic Roster PG- Jameer Nelson/Keyon Dooling SG- Deshawn Stevenson/Keyon Dooling SF- Wally Scerbviak/Hedo Turkoglu PF- Kevin Garnett/Tony Battie C- Dwight Howard/Kelvin Cato
if that were to happen, with KG and Howard, that would just be crazy...Howard is the second coming of KG...2 guys who can avg 20/10..

Well, for right now, I don't see KG and Wally Szczerbiak packing up yet. The Wolves are 12-9 but they would have been 15-6 if they won their last 3 games, which were lost by a total of 5 points. They are 3rd in the Conference, 1st of their division, even though they will probably be taken over by the Nuggets sooner or later. And Szczbiak has been beastly, having a 49.4% field goal percentage, with a 40.1% three point range and about 18 ppg. Garnett has been on the decline though, and as a PF, has been outplayed by Duncan (maybe not really, he owned Duncan last night), Nowitzki, and even Elton Brand now. Well one thing for sure is that Garnett isn't the player he once was.
