<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Seattle Times - Seattle Supersonics star forward Rashard Lewis was charged today with drunken driving, according to the King County Prosecutor. Lewis was stopped at 2:50 a.m. on Oct. 1, nearly two months ago, while driving his BMW on eastbound I-90 between Seattle and Mercer Island. Lewis was spotted traveling at a high rate of speed, 84 mph, along with two other cars, according to the police report from the incident. Lewis' eyes were watery and his speech slurred, according the report, and the car smelled of alcohol. The trooper who made the stop wrote that when he asked Lewis how much he had had to drink, Lewis responded, "only one." A blood test showed that Lewis had a blood-alcohol level of .132 about an hour after he was stopped. "I have been charged with a traffic offense involving alcohol. I have cooperated fully with the police during the investigation. Since the charge is pending, my attorney and I are working together to resolve this situation. In the meantime, I do not have any further comment and I look forward to the matter being resolved soon," said Lewis in a statement released Monday. "This incident happened before the season and we're looking forward to this matter being resolved soon. As it is a legal matter, we are not going to comment further on the situation," added Sonics General Manager Rick Sund. Arraignment is scheduled for Dec. 19.</div> RealGM
Deng he shouldnt be doing things like that, drunk driving[at a high speed too?] is not safe at all. Hope everything works out for him tho.
Absolutely no excuses for that and the fact that he's a high profile star athlete makes it even worse. Disgusting.
Party on! (Note: This is just to go against the Rashard bashing. I do not condone drinking and driving.)
As dumb as it is, it is even dumber that it is news. It is dumb that we care about this. It is dumb that there is a thread about this, and I am dumb for posting in it. I just want to say that the whole thing is dumb. He is dumb for doing it, dumb for being caught, and it is dumb that we have to read about it. [for the record, that is eight "dumb"s and one "dumber"]
What is the blood alcohol limit in the US? In Australia it's 0.05, which would make him almost three times over the limit.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">“Rashard is such a good guy,” said James, who is now with the Knicks. “One of the best guys I ever met. Big heart, loves everybody, tries to please everybody. “I’d like to meet the cop who arrested him. I know he is doing his job, but I still think he is a (jerk). Rashard is too good of a guy. He could arrest somebody who is a (jerk), who doesn’t do anything for the community. If (Rashard) had somebody in the car with him, let them take him home. Or let somebody else get behind the wheel. “I hate to see something like that happen to Rashard Lewis. And I don’t care what people say about my comments, I love Rashard.” </div> Source How about those comments from Jerome James? I'm confused with when this actually happened. It says Oct. 1st of this year, but the article is recent. Did the media just find out about 2 months later? Is this a smear job on Rashard Lewis by the local media because he is considering opting out?
The alcohol limit in Washington is indeed .08. And about Jerome James' comments... that has to just be Jerome sticking up for a friend. I don't think the media would put that kind of campaign for a sports player.
Not that I condone drinking and driving but this is a story that should have hit the streets about lets say....two months ago. Sweet Lew made a mistake and he'll probably have to pay a fine like any other person would for their first offense. I'm sure that he won't make the mistake again making this story pretty irrelevant.
What's the difference between him doing this now and him having done it two months ago? Any way, any time he did it, it was stupid, and I have less respect for him because of it.

For some reason the police delayed the filing of charges, perhaps there was something else they needed to investigate to determine what charges to file.
Haha, only Jerome could find fault with the police for doing their job. Drink driving is something I have no time for at all.
