NY Times - The Knicks appear to be on the verge of signing the 24-year-old small forward Qyntel Woods.

In 2002, Woods was drafted at number 21 by the Portland Trailblazers out of junior college and he finished last season as a member of the Heat. Woods has been suspended for violating the league's substance-abuse policy and another time after an incident involving one of his pit bull dogs. He was sentenced to probation after being charged with animal abuse.

Woods is expected to join the team for Tuesday's pre-game shoot-around in Seattle. The Knicks waived small forward Matt Barnes recently. [READ] </div>

Don't say, oh he's a headcase, Larry will hate him

See how Larry work with Rasheed...

Qyntel Woods is ok. I'd take him over that other guy we released.

He's going to provide the veteran leadership in the locker room that Larry Brown's been looking for. He's a skilled player with handles too. Imagine playing him at the 1 while Marbury shifts over to the 2 spot. Monroe/Frazier part 2? Nah homie, Marbury and Woods will be much better than that. Larry Brown can also move Nate to the 4 spot to take advantage of his incredible hops since the backcourt will be solid too.</div>
    a comment of my friend's.

I actually think Barnes is better. Qyntel is known for being pretty inconsitent.

I was wondering when Qyntel Woods would end up back on a roster. Being bounced around the league and being busted for illegal dog fights should have been a wake up call for him. Larry Brown is the perfect coach for Woods, if Woods is willing to learn. LB is the best teacher in the game and Woods has the skillset Larry likes working with.

He's tall for his position at 6'9, he has great handles and can shoot the ball. He has the tools to be a defensive stud on the wing. This could be the Knicks version of Tayshaun Prince, if all goes according to plan.

I hope Woods learn his lesson on his dicipline, because everybody compare him to Tracy Magrady, and if he's up to the challenge he can become a player with the caliber of Magrady and help us with some Pressure in the back court or in the low post with some moves.
But if he doesn't change and improve I think Isiah will use him as bait for a future trade.

Ok, this guy isnt a superstar like mcgrady. He can be a good player with tons of potential but not mcgrady. I think it was a good sign. He's more athletic and has more potential than barnes.
