<div class="quote_poster">Quoting babybulls:</div><div class="quote_post">^^ without giving into a trade the raptors could have bosh for 2 more seasons after this. Their advantage is that they can offer more money to give him a long term deal as well as an extra year. Bosh can walk but he still isn't allowed to for a few more years.</div> Thats somewhat of a positive as that gives Toronto 2 years to assemble a winning program with direction...
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">BOSH STILL PONDERING: Chris Bosh's agent says Bosh is closely monitoring the Raptors' situation as he evaluates whether he wants to sign a contract extension this summer or ultimately move to a new club. "I don't think anything can be viewed as definitive right now," the agent, Henry Thomas, said in a interview. It's been suggested Bosh could make more endorsement money in a big market in the U.S. Thomas said his client has deals in Toronto and is weighing new opportunities. "He's extremely popular up there," he said. "But it's not L.A., it's not Chicago, it's not New York."</div> Link
I love how the large market arguement is always used as an excuse why a star player will leave. If that was always the case KG wouldn't be in minnesota and TD wouldn't be playing for the spurs. I think it really comes down to the chance to win and being as big a part of that as possible. So if bosh feels he can win in Toronto on a team where he will be the most important player he will probably stay. But, if we don't show any potential i could see him bolting to a contender. I don't think endorsements, marketing, etc are really going to play a huge role for him. So playing in Canada changes the amount you can make on your endorsements ... but no more than playing in Utah or Denver ... I've heard with taxes either you can avoid enough to make the amount you pay the same as America or we give exemptions to athletes ??? I'm not sure??? does anyone know anything about this ???
