<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">ORLANDO, Fla. ? Tyson Chandler has had trouble catching his breath all season because of a hiatal hernia. On Wednesday, the problem was so bad he decided he couldn?t continue after playing the first five minutes. ?It?s been tough in the previous games,? he said. ?But tonight, for some reason, it was really tough. I couldn?t even get a gasp of wind when I was coming over to the bench. ?I haven?t been able to play like myself, but I?ve been able to play through it. Tonight I couldn?t.? Chandler was already scheduled to visit a pulmonary function doctor today to check lung volume and make sure there are no obstructions. ?I am looking forward to seeing what they have to say,? he said. ?When I?m in the United Center, half the time I?m running on the floor, I?m debating whether to tell the trainer I can?t go.? Gordon twists knee: Bulls guard Ben Gordon injured his right knee late in the first half but was able to come back for the start of the third quarter. With about 15 seconds remaining in the second quarter, Gordon dribbled to his right and had the ball tapped away and stolen by Magic power forward Dwight Howard. While Howard went the other way for a fastbreak dunk, Gordon stayed on the floor holding his knee. ?I was driving and it just kind of went in an awkward direction,? Gordon said in the locker room. ?I think that?s when I twisted it.? Gordon started for the first time this season in place of Kirk Hinrich (concussion). After hitting his first 3 shots of the night, Gordon cooled off. He finished with 11 points and 6 turnovers. No tooth, no problem: Luol Deng won some toughness points from coach Scott Skiles for returning to the court just seconds after having one of his upper front teeth knocked out Monday by an inadvertent elbow from Dallas? Dirk Nowiztki. ?It was painful,? Deng said Wednesday. ?At first, I didn?t think my tooth was knocked out. I stopped because I was dizzy. I could feel my head throbbing.? Deng visited two dentists Tuesday. The first tried to save the original tooth. When that couldn?t be done, he went somewhere else for a root canal and wore a temporary tooth during the Orlando game.</div> Source
A heart problem and a hernia is a little different, I don't think there's going to be any kind of DNA test here, haha. What about Dirk? he gave Hinrich an elbow to give him a concussion and gave Deng one and knocked a tooth out? I thought Nocioni played tough.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting I-Miss-MJ:</div><div class="quote_post">Why do I feel that Chandlers situation is going to be a Curry type all over again?</div> You mean you're likening a hiatal hernia to an irregular heartbeat? Hmmm... Well, a hiatal hernia is certainly operable, I just doubt that Chandler wants to take time out of his season to deal with it. Unfortunately, it looks like his diaphragm has other plans. If he continues to exert himself as utterly as he usually does, physically, then he runs a risk of tearing something and having it become a bigger issue. That said, there are wholistic methods of treating it. An irregular heartbeat is a lot more tricky. It could be any number of things causing it, but in Eddy Curry's case, it's an enlarged heart. An enlarged heart is more than obviously inoperable, and has no treatment whatsoever. The only thing one can do is scale back intense physical exertion, improve their diet, and maintain as healthy a heart as they can. That's probably why Curry couldn't outrebound my mother.
He is still playing tonight so I guess we will get the latest on this during the game. It certainly explains his slow start though I don’t attribute the hernia as the soul reason why he is struggling. he did not play all summer which means he is playing himself into shape. That along with the fact he is trying to do it with a injury is starting to pile up on him. Hopefully he does not take any time off because of this our front court does not have the depth to lose a big man and still be effective.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Tyson Chandler said Tuesday he has been diagnosed with exercise-induced asthma, which doctors believe is the cause of his bouts with fatigue and shortness of breath. "I'm just glad they finally said what it is," Chandler said. "I'm tired of it being up in the air." Chandler will use an inhaler to combat the symptoms. He had success with it Saturday in a victory over the Wizards. The diagnosis comes about three weeks after doctors found a hiatal hernia in his chest.</div> Source
