Jackson, obtained in a trade from Philly in August, told a Wilmington, Delaware, newspaper that he is uncertain about his role with the team and that going from 24 minutes a game with the Sixers to 14 with the Nets hasn't helped. </div> http://www.delawareonline.com/apps/pbcs.dl...305/1002/SPORTS
I absolutely knew that he wouldn't be happy here. He is at his best when he has someone driving and kicking the ball out to him and get open shots or enough room to attack the basket and draw some fouls. When I watch him play his shots are usually contested or he is given the ball and left alone to operate. That's not his game. He lacks tremendous mobiliy and he relies on others to set him up. When there is nobody drawing the defense away from him like Iverson was doing it's rather hard for him to be on top of his game which leads to figuring out his minutes. The only guy that can consitently draw two defenders everytime is VC but he is no PG and that's not his job. Kidd sets up others without drawing defenders to him, but Jackson is a different story and he will only be able to do what he has to if left open. I did a little research and looking at the only big game he had which was the 21 point game, 8 out of 10 of his FG came off of assist. That just goes to show you that he needs someone to set him up.
Honestly, when we first got Marc Jackson, I was under the impression that he was a quality one on one player offensively in the low block...and I think Coach Franks, was and still is under the same impression. But like Avery said, he isnt a one on one post player....he is a good pick & pop bigman, so he can take that 15 foot jumper that he seems to like. The problem with that style from Marc is that we already have a jumpshooting pick & roll/pop bigman in Nenad Krstic and Cliff Robinson to an extent..so what Jax is strong at we already have...so the expectation of him having post play in his game...and the non-delevery of such..has made his play very dissappointing so far. And you can kind of tell Frank is loosing faith in him.....I still say Marc Jaskon and a 2nd rounder for Tony Battie is a quality deal for Jersey....we still wouldnt have a one on one low post option..but we get more athletic and moble in the frontcourt.
