<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Toronto Star - Rob Babcock admits he has been in "meaningful" trade discussions with other NBA general managers in the last few weeks as the league braces for a wave of speculation and perhaps some deals later this week.

Under terms of the collective bargaining agreement, any player who signed as a free agent before the season began can't be traded until Thursday, but once that moratorium is lifted and about 100 players flood the market, there might be some movement.

And the Raptors could be involved.

"I don't know if we're that close in any of our talks, but we have had some very meaningful discussions," the Raptors' general manager said in a telephone interview yesterday. "We're always looking."

For the first time, Babcock said the team's future first-round draft picks could be moved in the right package.

"Nothing's untouchable," he said. "We could move one of those picks if we need it to facilitate a very good trade for our team." </div>

ok i swear..if babcock trades our first round pick in 2006 to someone else
    i'll be really pissed

Well that is a silly comment without even knowing what he would trade the picks for.

What if they traded the picks for KG, or Shaq, or Kobe......I know I know, THAT wouldn't happen. But to say you'd be pissed if he traded the picks, without knowing what you are getting in return is asinine.

We can't trade our own first rounder because we owe a pick to Charlotte. If we make the playoffs this year or next, our first rounder is Charlotte's. We can, however, trade Denver's first rounder in a potential deal.

yea, i think we'll be keeping our lottery pick, but we might as well ship off denver's pick that we have. the draft is already weak as it is...that first rounder looks better then it really is imo.

seems to me, we already have the young core that we wanted...now its time to add the right pieces around it.

Yeah Marc Jackson's a powerforward and center. Great intensity, heart, and veteran presence for any team.

I could see that trade happening. However, even if Jackson hasn't performed well in their system, would the Nets be willing to give up a center without recieving any big men in return. I mean, their frontcourt is weak enough as it is.

Jackson isn't a good fit for us, he can't rebound, defend, or block shots. He can rebound offensively, but that's not what we need, he's a guy that can score, but the other end of the court is not really his area. Their's a reason he isn't getting minutes in NJ.

we gotta get rid of our bench warmers tat are gettin no playin time (i.e. tha williams' tat we got in the mid season trade for carter. I mean its wasted salary. Amoung those that should be traded by any means neccesary are the williams trio, rose n tha horrible pick of 2004 which i will not name because you all know who im talkin about.
