<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">You can add Toronto to the list of rumoured destinations for Indiana Pacers forward Ron Artest. A rumour making the rounds last night had the Pacers badboy and second-round pick Erazem Lorbek going to the Raptors for Morris Peterson, another roster player (potentially Matt Bonner) and a first-round pick in 2006. The salaries are close enough for a potential deal. Peterson and Bonner make a combined $6.3 million US, while Artest, who demanded a trade earlier this week, makes $6.8 million. Teams can trade players signed during the off-season (as was Bonner) beginning today. Lorbek is playing professionally in Italy. Pacers general manager Donnie Walsh has said he is going to insist on a trade that makes sense in the long-term. Raptors GM Rob Babcock has said he would move a first-round pick (the team has two next year) if he could improve his club.</div> I don't know about this trade. Personally, I think he is a risk- he will either make a team better or make it worse. Mo Pete is such a great player for the Raps, especially this season and I love him as a Raptor. I was hoping he would be one of the veterans to be around when the younglings grow up. And if the Babs is planning to move a 1st rounder, hopefully it is the Denver pick. But, ye I think this deal could benefit the Raps or make them worse.
Considering we can't trade out own pick this year, this trade is an absolute steal, I'm getting an erection reading it!
hmm...we suck so bad this year, im almost willing to chance artest on our team. we can always deal him in the off-season if he doesnt work out...but if all we're giving up is mo pete, boner (yes, i spelled it like that on purpose) and our pick from denver...seems like a great deal to me.
If we can't deal our own first round draft pick next year, then why did I hear the reporter on the Score yesterday saying that Babcock said that he would be open to trading either one of his picks if it made the team better?
No point in doing it. He will just complain about losing and be a distraction. He will only be a short term fix, and would most likely bolt after his contract is up. However, it would show Bosh that the team is serious about winning. Doesn't really matter to me. If we get him, cool. If not, who cares.
Didnt he say he was going to sign with the knicks at the end of the season anyways. If we trade mo-pete, Bonner, and a pick for a player thats going to play 6 months for us and then just leave for the knicks. Seems like a bad trade only if he doesnt stick with us, but if he stays, its an awesome trade.

I cannot see Ron Artest coming to Toronto. I don't think the organization would have a player with that reputation. And hey, who says we can't pry Magloire from Milwaukee. Mo Pete Aaron Williams and 1st round pick for Magloire?

I haven't been able to watch them play more than twice this season and he did get pt but wasn't really a part of their scheme
I'll cry if Peja is the big free agent that Babcock has been saving up for. This is an amazing trade, but I'd make sure that Artest is alright with going to our team, if I was the Raps management.

Never happened, why? Well, they just don't want to walk that path.
