I also agree with that... a lot of this trade speculation is premature. True, the Nets were struggling, but obvously they'll wait and see whether or not this group of guys can turn it around. I've heard they're shopping Carter around (or planning on it)... any news on that? Just curious... Anyway, the Rockets even rejected the Swift for Jackson + pick trade, so they've already said they won't do it.

Unless we can get someone like KG I think we should keep him. He just seems to valuable to give up unless for someone on the same level. If the Rockets don't want Jackson and a pick for Swift, that's their problem. We should not add anyone to the deal for Swift. Not worth it.
Krstic is better than Swift. Period. If we have to give up Krstic then it's not worth it. Of course Houston has initially rejected this trade, because they want to see if they can get more from us. Maybe we can send over Jackson and McInnis for Stro and a filler. We're using Vaughan over JMac anyway, so why not package both of them. Another possibility is sending Mcinnis and Jackson over to Atlanta for Childress, Lue and a filler. Don't know about cap issues.
^^^ How would Jackson and McInnis for Childress, Lue, and a filler improve us in any way? Lue is on the same level, if not worse, than McInnis, Childress wouldn't help us since we don't need another swingman of the bench, and a filler would probably be a guy who barely gets minutes. Plus, we would lose Jackson and be left with only one capable "PF/C" off the bench, Cliff Robinson (I don't consider Padgett one, he seems more like a SF to me). I think we should try Jackson, Clipper's 1st, and our 2nd round pick, for Swift. I would really like a lineup like that, extremely explosive. Also, Swift would add more defense and more athletisicm to our weak frontcourt. If that doesn't work out I think we should go for Steven Hunter, maybe trade a benchie that barely gets minutes like Lammond Murray for him?
Eh, I'm pretty sure that if the Nets wanted Hunter they would have to part with Jackson... I like that trade, but I'm not sure if I'd do it for the Sixers. It's not everyday you get two athletic seven-footers at the center position, even if Hunter isn't getting many minutes right now.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting njvc15:</div><div class="quote_post">J.kidd could turn him into a star</div> J-Kidd can't turn someone who is lazy and unmotivated into a star. Kidd turned Kenyon into an All-star because Kenyon gave 100% every game. Swift doesn't do that.
Can any Nets fans tell me about Plananic? Perhaps it would be wise to trade Swift for Jax and Plananic...Swift can only thrive in an uptempo system, and its clear JVG doesnt play that style...
During the summer I would have taken Swift...but Iam not really that interested in Swift anymore. Honestly before the summer, I didnt really know completely what his tendencies were since he played in Vancouver/Memphis. And I dont follow the Grizzlies, closely. But looking at him on the Rockets, I have to agree that the motivation to be consistent isnt their for this guy...so I wouldnt want to throw a first rounder on him, honestly. If it was Jackson for him straight up then of course I would do it in a heart beat...because of the athleitc edge that Swift has alone. Anyway, honestly I want Tony Battie..I think he is proven, he is athletic..can run the floor, change a few shots defensively, I think the risk factor of getting a proven guy like Battie is much less then getting a suspect guy like Swift.
Lue would be an energetic pg off the bench who plays better D than Jeff. But the real key in this deal would be getting Childress for Jackson. Jax isn't playing and is very unhappy, while Josh would be a perfect swingmen off the bench instead of Murray. Hawks need a bigman, and are too deep at the 3 anyway, while we get more depth in the backcourt. This would cause a problem for us if one of our bigs got injured, so we'd probably have to make a minor deal with Planinic for a decnt big (maybe Aaron Williams?)
