Once again I will try to argue my case of Kobe VS Jordan. Most people are stupid enough to not realize that Bryant is being asked to carry a mediocre team of second-tier players. It's not unlike what Jordan faced in Collins' first season--Jordan averaged 28 shots per game playing with Brad Sellers, Granville Waiters, Earl Cureton, Pete Myers, Gene Banks and Steve Colter. Jordan also had John Paxson, Dave Corzine and Charles Oakley. Try to find even that level of talent on this Lakers team, which comes in 13-10 after winning 8 of their last 10. To me, that should get Phil Jackson in the conversation for coach of the year. Yes, Bryant takes a coach's nightmare worth of bad shots. Like, say, Allen Iverson, Gilbert Arenas, LeBron James and Dwyane Wade, also squeezing off more than 20 shots per game. What's their excuse?

"If Michael didn't take 35 shots that year, we had almost no chance of winning"

Kobe has been amazing the last few games. The lesson learned ... patience.

I cosign on PJax, he definitely has to be in the coach of the year running.

Come on, Lebron is averaging 21 shots on 49% and dwade is averaging 20 on 46% fg, you can't say their attempts are even in the same league as kobe's 26.5 attemps on 44%fg.

And Jordan averaged 50%fg for his career, so when he took all those shots more then enough were going in.

Don't care to factor in FG%s decreasing as the game evolves and defenses are focused at making players miss. Not to forget the increased athleticism of the modern day NBA player... Even MJ might be pressed to shoot at a 50% clip these days.

A 40 year old Jordan shot 44% in his last season. Imagine what he could've done in his prime.

In his prime, MJ shot around 53 or 54% from the field, but that was in an era when several teams AVERAGED about 49% from the field.

I think a realistic figure would be about 48 or 49% from a Jordan in his prime, in the modern era. But he'd also probably get WAY more free throws, because they're calling fouls more closely the past couple years (consider Iverson, Wade, Kobe, Pierce's free throw attempts). Jordan didn't make a lot of threes, but his free throws combined with a solid percentage from the field on 2-pointers would make him a very efficient player overall.

Kobe's good, but he's not up there with MJ just yet. He needs to take the Lakers to the playoffs this year and next year.

Haha yeah HE takes the Lakers to playoffs.. HE...
Funny if they win, all because of Kobe
and if they lose, all because of other teammates.
