The score right now is Tennessee - 29, Texas - 10 with about 8 minutes left in the first half. The game has been far more entertaining than the Kentucky/Louisville game so far. Gibson continues to prove how overrated he is.

I'll admit- I figured Texas would blow Tennessee off the floor after that embarrasing loss to Duke...well, it's been vice versa in this one...Hopefully, this athletic Vols team will continue to blow the overrated Longhorns off the court!

Proof that Duke isn't that good, Texas is just bad. They did say Gibson went out early with injury.

There was no contact on the play where Gibson was "injured". I think the kid just couldn't handle the pressure. Texas was down by about 19 points at that time, so it's not like that "injury" was the reason why Tennessee took such a big lead either.

    Update -

    Tennessee - 64
    Texas - 39

    12:56 remaining.

How high will Tennessee be ranked after this win? They have no losses correct? I think they should crack the top 20 and Texas should fall either out or 20-25 until they prove that they belong anywhere else

It really should be interesting to see where Tennessee lands. Florida jumped from being unranked to being #14, so anything is possible for the Vols. I think I'd put them somewhere just outside of the top fifteen. Just so long as they're over Texas, it'll be okay with me.

Texas has somewhat proven themselves though. They beat both West Virginia and Iowa earlier in the year. However, West Virginia went on to lose to both LSU and Kentucky, and the Longhorns barely won that game. Iowa's also had their fair share of trouble. They're ranked, but they probably shouldn't be until they get Horner back or get another quality win or two.

The problem is on the defensive end and guys look lost on the offensive end. Not much team basketball being played. Gibson is hurting his stock, he has played well at times but is still way too inconsistant and has a habit of just holding the ball and not moving the ball.

It's early so It's too early for me to doubt them too much but they certainly aren't as good as the pre-season ranking.

I said it early in the year, and it's happening-Texas is disorganized and lazy on defense, and they don't take care of the ball. Now they've lost their last two games by a combined score of 192-144, and on the season, against legit competition, they're giving up an average of 86 points per game [IMG]

And oh yeah, who was the JBB writer who recently said that Tennessee was a team to keep an eye on? [IMG] [IMG]

I really like Tennessee's coach, forgot his name, he coached at UW-Milwaukee last year and made the Sweet 16. He has a very agressive press and Tennessee has very athletic guards that could make it work. Tennessee is definetely a team to look out for in the SEC. I think they will jump up to like 17-20.

btw, the Gators beat 2 top 20 teams on consecutive nights, which is why we moved up to 14.

The coach's name is Bruce Pearl, and while he may be winning earlier on, he's already scared away Tyler Smith, probably the best recruit that Tennessee has gotten in a decade. As for your Gators, you sure love to bring up their wins in New York, don't you? Like I've said a thousand times before, you beat two teams who were ranked by ESPN in the top 20 but not two of the top twenty teams in the nation. There's a difference. Syracuse is no longer ranked, and they should never be again this season. Wake Forest is an above average team, but after that loss to DePaul, you can see that they're not one of the top twenty teams in America. Beating Texas by seventeen points is far more impressive to me than beating two really overrated ball clubs by an average of five points. This is really off topic though, so if you want to keep arguing Florida's ranking, I'm sure there are two or three threads where we can take it.

Wow, I missed quite a weekend, Bruce Pearl looks like he's doing the job down there in Tennessee.
