Lakers this season is getting into WCF form but, many belive they wont make it to the finals. What do you think they got to do to make it to the Finals this season? Trades? offseason free angency for 06-07?
Well if Ron Artest does indeed join the Lakers without losing Odom, I think the Lakers will be considered underrated contenders. If the Lakers beat tougher teams this year at least once or twice, I would consider them WCF contenders. As long as Phil and Kobe keeps the team in check, the Lakers will be ok.
Relax. Even if you said the Lakers are coming into playoff form youd be stretching it. WCF form? Give me a break. I dont care who your star player and coach is, with the current roster the only form the Lakers will take is that of a lottery team. Anyhow, Sacramento is a team thats coming into playoff form. They won a few games in a row and had respectable games, although losses, to two of the leagues top teams.
Pft, Sac is stuck dude. They've played really crappy lately. Now that Artest for Peja, or Artest for anything for that matter, deal is almost impossible now and that you lost yet ANOTHER game in this case to San Antonio, I see the Lakers going MUCH MUCH farther than Sacramento. Peja's shooting airballs, Brad Miller is a slouch, and the bench doesnt care. The best effort your getting is from Bibby, SAR, and Bonzi which isn't much obviously or else you'd be above .500.
^ The Kings lost on the road to the Spurs in the final seconds.Prior to that they lost to the Pistons and yet before that they won 3 in a row. The Kings started the season off awfully and are now showing clear signs of turning around, as expected. With the talent on SAC's roster theres no way they dont make the playoffs, unfortunately this worst case scenario start theyve had is going to cost them the pacific. That being said, the Lakers have played really well over the last few games...but their team is still garbage. Kobe ,Odom, Phil...AND THATS IT! Not a playoff team, period
The Lakers are more of a playoff team than the Kings right now period. The Lakers are not however WCF contenders. I don't think there is any way for the Lakers to go deep into the playoffs this season without major trades. Getting Ron Artest might work, but it's a big gamble. The focus is on the two seasons to come.

The only way the Lakers will return to prominence is through trades, or if Kobe and Phil can develop this group of guys into the most over achieving squad ever. __________________

Have you been watching Laker games lately, Smush Parker, Chris Mihm, Brian Cook, and the rest of the bench have showed up. The bench has been producing so well over the last 7 games. The Lakers have also proven they can win without Kobe, when Kobe fouled out during OT wth the Jazz and Sasha hit the clutch 3 pointer to put the nail on the coffin. I'll admit the Laker's don't have the best of players besides Kobe and Lamar, but don't call them garbage.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting AllNet:</div><div class="quote_post">Get a FRONTCOURT!!</div> I don't see it happening right now. The Lakers are going to try to develop a frontcourt with these young guys. Mihm Kwame Turiaf Bynum Chris Mihm has improved from last year, but the rest will need at least two seasons here before we start seeing some real improvement. I expect Turiaf to be a solid role player once he's healthy. Then you just have to hope for Kwame or Bynum to breakout.
The Lakers are started to click and are showing sings of Chemistry. Kobe is begining to trust his teammates passing the ball to Sasha, Kwame and Luke...etc... and lakers have won 8 out of their last 11 games. The only thing that I don't see clicking here is Lamar Odom...if he was to average 15 to 18 shots per game and score 15 to 20 points the Lakers are definte contenders to go to Western Semis....but with Odom playing alike b-atch. There is no way the lakers will go far. Yesterday's perfomance by Odom was worst than a rookie....took less than 6 fg attempts and committed 5 turnovers....horrible. If the lakers have a chance we could do it with this team as long as Odom begins to step up or trade his ass....yesterday's lost was Odom fault.
