<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">can this guy be the next super star, and i mean super star like t-mac kobe lebron wade type</div> No. He has the talent no doubt, but I don't think he has nor will ever have the drive to be at that level. The guy will certainly get better because this is like only his 6th year I believe, but as far as reaching McGrady and Kobe status, I think that's out of the question.
Arenas is an All Star, but at this point he isn't a superstar. I really think it is possible for him to become a super star at the peak of his career though, because right now he is only in the early stages.
He's got a ways to go, locking down his defense, not making stupid turnovers, I'm just personally not convinced he can become a true point gaurd. He's only 23(24 in january) so he's still young and if he puts in the work it's a possibility, I just personally don't see him taking it to the next level.

He is probably the hardest working guy in the league outside of Kobe. He is the first one at the gym, the last one to leave and is always working on his game. That's all he does in the offseason, is go to the gym. Don't question his will or drive, because it's right up there alongside Kobe's.

How stupid would I sound? I know that he is a very hard worker, I know about the history behind the "0" he wears on his back of his jersey. But let's be serious here, as of now the way it looks there is no way he still be a superstar, well at least at LeBron and Kobe level like the question indicated. These guys are GOAT bound(Kobe and LeBron) and you're trying to say Gilbert Arenas will one day be at that level? I think not. Again I think he will get better but as good as Kobe and LeBron, I think that's pushing. He could be a superstar like a Dirk for example or even better but LeBron, Kobe type superstar? Nah. No matter how much he works on his game I don't ever think he will be that level. Kobe for example is a team player and you would never see him not wanting to get back into a game over a little fuss and jeopardize his team winning the game. Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't Arenas end up doing some along those lines?

I think he refused to shoot until the last two minutes of teh 4th quarter and won the game for the Wizards. If it's the same situation we're thinking of. As for your original post, It was very vague. It made it seem like you weren't positive on Arenas. I don't think he'll be on Kobe's level, but his drive is right up there with Kobe. I think he'll be a superstar, no doubt though. Every year in the league he has increased his stats and his level of play. On Kobe's level? No. LeBron's level? No. Dwyane Wade's level? Yes. Tmac's level? Yes. The 2nd level of superstars in this league? Yes. The Dirk's, Amare's, Wade's, McGrady's, Pierce's, etc...
I'm not sure about Wade and Tmac's level. Tmac is on Kobe and Lebron's level, if Arenas can't reach those guys, how will he reach Tmac? Wade is a tough one, he's still right there with Lebron, just a little lower than Kobe and McGrady while being younger still. They're the same age, Wade is currently the better player, he's even cut down on his turnovers this season too. Wade still has the advantage in maturity of his game, Arenas has a scoring advantage, but Wade has a big one defensively and is a better playmaker at the moment. I don't think we can really say exactly how good he will be, I don't think he'll ever be a "best player in the league" level, but he can definately be a 2nd tier superstar in the league.
I don't think Wade and Tmac are on Kobe's level to be honest with you. The A list superstars in the league: Kobe, Duncan, Shaq, Garnett, Lebron The B list superstars: Tmac, Dirk, Amare, Nash, Wade, Arenas, Marion, Pierce, etc... The C list superstars: Carmelo, Hughes, etc... I don't think Tmac has done enough in his career to warrant being with Kobe/Shaq/Bron and them. The fact that Arenas is only 23 and improving dramatically in every year of his young career is incredible, especially the way he has improved. Is he a Kobe? No...he never will be, but he's up there with the 2nd level of superstars in the game.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">I don't think Tmac has done enough in his career to warrant being with Kobe/Shaq/Bron and them.</div> So how can LeBron be A list superstar? I'm sure when you said T-Mac hasn't done much in his career you are probably reffering to his team success which isn't much, but LeBron hasn't have much success either. So I don't get how he would be an A list superstar. You must have probably put LeBron as an A lister based solely on his individual success and if so McGrady should be an A list star as well. Here is the way I see it: The A list superstars in the league: Kobe, Duncan, Shaq, Garnett, Iverson, Lebron and McGrady. The B list superstars: Dirk, Amare, Nash, Kidd and Wade. The C list <strike>super</strike>stars: Carmelo, Hughes, Marion, Pierce, Carter, Arenas etc.
I think while I'm here I'm going to take issue with Pierce being listed alongside Carmelo. One of those things is not like the other... Anyway, I'm going with 8's deal here. I see no reason why this guy can't be a superstar. And I'm talking dollars and cents. What he needs is more exposure, and the only way to get that is to play nationally televised basketball on a playoff stage, and win doing it. Kobe's done it, McGrady's had his shot (who knows how he'll far in the future?), and Wade's been at it now too. After last year's performance against the Bulls in the first round, he showed us he can run in the playoffs, now it's a matter of a winning staff around him, and the sky's the limit for this guy. I love his game, I think he plays as good a floor general as ALMOST anybody in the league, and I'm not necessarily talking dimes here, I'm talking leadership. There's no one else on that team willing to step up his game and win when it matters, but Arenas has accepted that mantle gracefully, and appears to be faring at least moderately well. He plays some great D for his size and position, and has great hands (they tend to set him apart from other ham-handed, yet quick defenders, like Chauncey), and his team defense is heads-up. He runs a good break, but best of all, this guy can score at will. His offensive game is nowhere near as one-dimensional as it was in Golden State, and his team is really reaping the rewards from that. The more he plays, the more we'll appreciate what a special player this guy is. The more the country sees him, the better it will be for his chances of becoming a true super star.

Maybe he shouldn't be in the same class as Anthony. But he is not in the same class as Wade, Dirk etc. I'd say he is like in between the B and C class of stars.

You can tell his team is going somewhere and so is his career. McGrady quit on the Magic, he wanted out of Orlando, and was known for being a lazy defender. You can't say all that about LeBron. He's made Cleveland a hot market, look at who he has attracted there, Hughes, Jones, and Marshall. He has all the pieces and he's only 20. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The B list superstars: Dirk, Amare, Nash, Kidd and Wade. Hughes is the perfect role player, he'll never be a star player. He doesn't have the drive to do it. He takes over in the 4th quarter down the stretch, but he does more harm than good. He misses a lot of important shots. He benefitted from playing with Arenas last year. And Melo, he needs to get his head right before he can be compared with the likes of Arenas, Pierce, Marions, etc..
If you don't put Tmac, you can't put Lebron. Lebron has yet to make the playoffs, he had a 27-7-7 season, great, Tmac had a 32 PPG | 6.5 RPG | 5.5 APG season on a much inferior team, and made the playoffs. McGrady quitting on Orlando does not move him down in being an A level superstar, that's nonsense. Look at the performance of Houston this season, with and without McGrady. McGrady played weak defense in Orlando, well Lebron is still a weak defender while McGrady is playing good D in Houston. I don't even like McGrady, so this has nothing to do with bias, but Arenas is not on Tmac's level, and I like Gil as you should know. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The A list superstars in the league: Kobe, Duncan, Shaq, Garnett, Iverson, Lebron and McGrady. A Superstars: Duncan, KG, Shaq, Kobe, Tmac, Lebron, Iverson, and right now, Brand B Superstars: Carter, Wade, Pierce, Kidd, Amare, Nash, Dirk, JO, Arenas, Allen, Marion [superstar role player] C "Superstars": Baron, Redd, Crazy Artest [not crazy could be B], Gasol All-Stars: Billups, Bosh, Carmelo, Yao, Rip, Hughes, J-Rich, Bibby etc... B List All-Stars: A lot of guys, Jamison, Jefferson, Paul etc...
everybody got different opinions on superstars but i think gilbert can be at the level where iverson is.... and by the way my A list of superstars only have 3 players ALLEN IVERSON, kobe and t-mac.... i agree with og15's list except put marion on all stars list

Are you crazy? Both Shaq and Duncan have won 3 rings each and you don't think they are the A list superstar. You need to sit down and watch them play. Every announcer says Duncan is almost the best to play his position. Watch both of these guys play, then tell me your A list. I'm not saying that because Duncan is my favorite player either.
i think gil will be a superstar, but i dont know about kobe and lebron level. he will be up there if he wins a couple of championships. he still has a good 12 years or more in him. and hes been improving every year. he used to go to my high school that i go to now. and hes really improved and proved everyone wrong from high school, college and the nba. People said hes gonna get 0 playing time when you go to the league so thats y he wears the number 0. people said he couldnt run the point and hes proven everyone wrong, soo you never know how good hes gonna get.

Hell, the Rockets were tagged as contenders at the start of the season while Cleveland was just a playoff lock. People knock on TMac for not winning a playoff series, but look at the guys he had around him before Houston? He took Orlando to the playoffs when their second-best player was Mike Miller, a rookie. Saying his defense is bad when Lebron isn't exactly a lockdown guy either is a moot point. Fame-wise, I won't hesitate to say TMac is on Lebron's level. Yao is the most famous player on a global level; would that make him a "A-level Superstar"? Fame doesn't have anything to do with it.
