We now have 22 signed up, and 16 confirmed. Waiting on 30 confirmed, so that we have one for every team.
I signed up and did that bidding stuff. This is a really cool concept for a league. Never seen anything like it before.
Id really want to start right now cause Im sick and sitting at home.Seems to be really cool.I hope I manage to get the Sixers somehow
Are we going to draft players, or are we just going to use those rosters? Is Schaddy's thing a whole different thing from this?
We're going to use the rosters that were on the team bidding page - those were the rosters at the end of this past season. It's an "offseason" league - how much can you improve your team in one offseason? So we use the original rosters. Schaddy's thing is not associated with this. Martin: We now have 19 teams confirmed, 27 total signed up. That means if all of those people confirm with their bids, we'd only need 3 more to start.
It seems that the site was telling people who tried to register that the league was full, because 30 people had signed up, even though 30 had not confirmed. If you tried to sign up and encountered that message, it is now fixed and you are still allowed to sign up. Also, Martin: Thank you for noticing that. I went through and found more duplicates, and got rid of them. The update? 22 confirmed. Almost there, confirm your registrations people!
I hate to bring this up now, but I hope you all read the rules before bidding. If not, here are some things for future bidders to keep in mind: <ul> [*]Injuries will randomly occur during the season. Each player will have the same chance of being injured as he was last year. For example, this means that if Tim Duncan missed 16 of his team's 82 games, he will have about a 19.5% chance after every game of being injured for the team's next game. If you GM the Spurs, you may get lucky and random chance will let Duncan play more than 66 games. Or you may get unlucky and he'll play less. But the random chance is equivalent to what he did in the NBA last year. [*]You will only be able to keep 7 of the players currently listed on the roster. Once you get your team, you will be taken to a page that asks you to select the seven players you'd like to keep. These 7 will have to be under the $55 million cap number. This means that for a team like the Mavericks, you may have to cut some good players (like Finley, Stackhouse, etc.). It also means you can dump some bad contracts your team has. It allows you more freedom than otherwise. But it also means you HAVE to stay under $55 million, so a team like the Knicks may force your hand to keep exactly 7 players. Just keep it in mind. [*]Lastly, because of all these people dropping players there will be a substantial free agent class. So flexibility with the cap is fairly important. [/list] Happy bidding!
Gotta say, I'm pretty stoked about this process. I have signed up, but have not yet received my confirmation link. Soon as it comes, I'm all over this thing.
Schaddy, Orlandoman, Moo2K4, if you all confirm we will be one confirmation away. Let's get it started!
