<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">> MIGHTY JOE: Hawks guard Joe Johnson has averaged 33 points over the past two games, knocking down 11 of 18 shots from beyond the 3-point line. He credits his recent surge to good old hard work. "I've just been working on my shot after practice," he said. "I'm just taking what the defense gives me. I've been working a lot on my jumper, and if they take that away from me, I'm trying to get to the hole and create some opportunities for me and my teammates." Johnson, a no-brainer nominee for Eastern Conference Player of the Week, has made 51 percent of his shots from the floor in the past four games, a healthy 37-of-72 showing. And he has hit the big shots, like the runner he drilled with 4.7 seconds to play Sunday against Denver to send the game to overtime. "Joe hit the biggest shot," Tyronn Lue said when asked if his 3-pointer with 5.6 seconds to play in overtime was bigger. "If he doesn't hit that shot, we don't get to overtime."

    > PRODUCTIVITY: There might not be a more potent offensive team in the league than the Hawks the past week. The Hawks have scored 100 or more points in four consecutive games; they're averaging 109.5. In their past two games the Hawks have made 19 of 29 shots from beyond the 3-point line, including a 12-for-13 performance in Friday night's victory over New York and 6-for-6 in the first quarter Sunday. "I think it's just confidence in the work we've done and the way we're playing," Al Harrington said. "We've put in the right kind of work in practice, and guys stick around every day after practice working with our assistant coaches. We were bound to hit a stretch like this. So you just ride it until you cool off." </div>

Joe Johnson has been playing pretty good as of late. In his past 8 (including tonight), he's averaging 22.4 PPG, 4.8 RPG, 5.7 APG, 1.00 SPG, on 51% shooting and 46.8 from 3.

Let me be the first to admit the man is surprising me. My predictions for him coming in were 18-4-4 in about 36 MPG, with more minutes, about 19-5-5, on 43-44% FG and 34% 3PT, with very few wins.

His season averages, and that's excluding his 24-9-8 game today is:

    19.3 PPG | 4.1 RPG | 5.3 APG | 3 TPG | 44.9% FG | 34.5% 3PT | 39 MPG

Now this is just slightly above what I predicted, but when looking at the last 5 games:

22.8 PPG | 5.2 RPG | 6.4 APG | 2.2 TPG | 50.6% FG | 44% 3PT | 37.8 MPG even going to the line 6 times a game, the guy is just playing amazing, and not just numbers wise, cause he's playing less minutes, but they've won 5 of their last 7 beating SA, CLE, DEN, and PHI.

Joe Johnson is doing just around where I thought he'd be but the Assist numbers are a little dissapointing, but I guess considering he's not a real PG they're not bad. If the Hawks can keep this up they'll be a good team sooner than later.

Well he's not playing PG anymore, he's being a playmaker from the SG spot, so his assists aren't bad, and they've gone up lately, he started off a little slow.

Box Scores still got him at PG. But Good to hear that he's not playing PG anymore, I never though that was going to work out. Now if the Hawks are content with JJ they should trade away Childress, Harrington, or Smith either one of them for a PG. Zaza has been great as the big man, and Marvin can play 4 if needed or 3 depending on who stays.

He seems fragile, also. I don't think he is that bad though.

Childress always plays well in the fourth quarter though. He just doesn't get much playing time and doesn't shoot a lot, but shoots pretty well. I'd keep him until I'm convinced that he can't contribute much to this team.

^oh, im not saying he sucks. it's just, we have SOOOO many SF's and he's the one with the least potential, so i think we should trade him.

JJ has been great considering the situation he's in.

It's easy to drop shots when you're playing in Phoenix and getting the ball from Steve Nash, but to come to Atlanta, run the ball and create your own shots is a lot more difficult.

    Well done JJ.
