Denver would be looking for a big man in return for Watson, and we can't afford to give one of ours up. Certainly not Swift.

They actually need a shooter, because their SG production has been awful this season. I just can't see these two teams wanting to help one another out since they could be battling for playoff positioning.

I've been vouching for this guy all along. Nice speed, brings great defense, his percentage from the field and three has improved, and is an adequate passer. However, I'd only be in favor of trading one of our big men for him when Mutumbo and Yao come back and we really need to the pull the trigger. Like Durvasa said, we only have so much low post players as it is and with Yao and Mutumbo gone, its pretty much depleted. Good player, just not the right time for him.

Where would Watson fit into the rotation once Alston and (possibly) Sura return? Both Rafer and Sura are better than Watson, IMO...Plus, I'm tired of going with smallish, petite guards...I dont think another PG should be at the top of our list...we need a more consistent, tougher PF, and a swingman who can create and defend...

I think Alston or Anderson would be at the top of Denver's list, since both can hit the outside shots and are more natural shooting guards than anyone else on the roster.

Getting Watson would be a good idea. Let's pull this deal off CD and Kiki!

If they land Watson, then the Rockets should put Sura on the shelf and apply for an injury exception. Let him fully recover and figure out what to do with him for next season.

Alston is better off the bench, he's really not starting PG material. He'd be a nice spark off the bench like he was for the Miami Heat.

I agree with the needs though, PG shouldn't be the priority. BUT if there's a chance to improve the team you have to go for it.

I would trade Head for him. As much as I like him. Quality for quality. Watson would easily fit in the JVG system.

If not then Anderson and a first/second round pick for him.

Head? I like Watson, but definitely not enough to trade Head for him. In my opinion, Luther Head could turn out to be a much better player since's he's been given the nod by Van Gundy for more minutes. With more minutes, I can definitely see his game improving every year so I just don't see why we would trade Watson for him. Watson really doesn't offer much that Head doesn't. Watson's turnovers per assists are higher, his shooting's only slightly better, free throws are worse, and his rebounding is worse. The only thing I see better is his steals but even then Head offers just as stifling defense.

Denver could get a lot more than Alston and a 2nd round pick for Watson and Lenard.

I don't think any of these trades would ever happen. Simply because we are a threat to each other in the playoff race.

EDIT: OK NVM I WOULD NOT TRADE HEAD. We should hang on to him. You guys are right. I was just thinking of getting further in the playoffs this year. Head should develop into a swingman/dual guard.

His numbers should be arounfd 16/5/5 with 2spg in about 2-3 years. That is if he gets 34 mpg.

    Head is a keeper.

heres another idea that works in salary wise:

    Denver Trade Breakdown
    Outgoing
    Earl Watson
    6-1 PG from UCLA
    6.6 ppg, 1.6 rpg, 2.6 apg in 17.7 minutes
    Incoming
    Derek Anderson
    6-5 SG from Kentucky
    10.8 ppg, 4.2 rpg, 2.6 apg in 29.1 minutes
    Rafer Alston
    6-2 PG from Frenso State
    7.1 ppg, 3.9 rpg, 4.1 apg in 31.3 minutes
Change in team outlook: +11.3 ppg, +6.5 rpg, and +4.1 apg.

    Successful Scenario
Due to Houston and Denver being over the cap, the 25% trade rule is invoked. Houston and Denver had to be no more than 125% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

so we give them derek and alston for watson we can replace derek with anyoneo that has about the same salary as him

I really think we should keep Alston until at least the all star break. He has something to prove. If he doesn't fit well by then then trade his ass.

We would be giving too much in that deal. Although it would unload Alston's contract, I think we can get more for those two.

C'mon guys. Earl Watson is a good player and all but he isn't worth both Anderson and Alston. I think just one of them and a second rounder would do, although Indiana do have some good players to use as trade bait. Fred Jones is griping about playing time, and Austin Croshere has the range and shorter contract to attract the Nuggets.

I assumed Denver was looking for a big guy because Nene got hurt for the season. But SG makes sense for them as well.

I think we'll probably have better luck improving the team by acquiring a free agent for the minimum than making a trade.

If Denver is willing to trade Watson for Wesley (not sure if that works salary-wise), then I'd go for it.

i dont' think wesley for watson would be good... wesley done soo much for us now, i don't think with all the injuryies going on that watson can do as much as wesley has done

For some reason Earl Watson doesn't thrill me (especially if we have to trade Head or DA).......I still think this team can be good with everyone healthy.

I REALLY like this team too...our only problem IMO is that we are so prone to being hurt
