<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The Nets are trying to pry Stromile Swift from Houston. They are concerned about Jason Collins and now have Marc Jackson wondering whether he'd be better off somewhere else after he was benched last night.

    Fun team, huh?

Yesterday, multiple league sources claimed the Nets and Rockets discussed a deal involving Swift for Jackson and a first-round pick, a deal that did not interest Houston. But the Nets are expected to intensify their quest as concern grows over Collins, who will undergo additional tests on his leg today.

The Nets had Swift as their second free-agent choice but after they appeared to sew up Shareef Abdur-Rahim, Swift signed with Houston. But Swift (who makes $5 million) has been a bench player, same as Jackson (who $4.55 million), who last night stayed calm and composed but was obviously upset by the DNP.

"A DNP means you can't help the team. If he don't think I can help the team, then maybe get rid of me for somebody you think can," Jackson said. "I think I show every day in practice I can help this team . . . I didn't get an opportunity tonight to help the team and that hurts." </div>

No way, why would Marc Jackson fit in Houston? I know Swift might not be doing his best in Houston, but he isn't dying to get out either. What would pry him to go to the Nets especially after our impressive 4 game win streak I don't know.

Sucks for the Nets, I know. Sorry Net fans, but no Swift for you! C'mon you got Richard Jefferson, Vince Carter, Jason Kidd, Nenad Kristic, all capable players and scorers. What else is making your greedy hearts desire?

I don't know guys. I've seen Marc Jackson from his days as a Sixer and I must say, he's a beast. Jackson can work on the inside for points and garbage buckets as well as coming to the key to hit the jumper. Short of like a watered down Howard when he was in his prime. Although he's not exactly what we need (a good rebounder), I would take him if he was one of the only offers that were available. We would actually save some caproom and get a shorter contract as well. If the Nets package a pick in for this, I'd definitely be down for this if we start going on another losing streak. Swift simply has taken way too long to contribute what's expected of him- and thats not even much. Even a 10 and 8 would suffice for now.

If marc jackson is in as a good a form as when he was a sixer.. why not?? Last time i checked . Yao and tmac are carrying the team... Marc Jackson would make a good backup hes a strong rebounder and scorer in the zone.... He might be a better defender than swift.. and a tougher player i might add... But i doubt the trade would go thru cuz the rox don't want him

if jackson is indeed a good player with rebounding, scoring and defense, why the heck would the nets want to get rid of him!?!?!

They don't really have anyone they can send for swift so this trade will never happen.

There is no point in getting a first round pick from a team that will probably end up in the playoffs. Now if this was the atlanta hawks we were talking about, I'd consider it at least.

Jackson is 30 and almost strictly a post player, so I don't know how well he can mesh with Yao. Also, he's not too good a rebounder. I'm neutral on trading Swift, but in Jackson we won't get equal value. If the Nets will give up Nenad Krstic though, I'd do it in a heartbeat.

If we can somehow land Cliff Robinson without giving up an important player, it'll be a sweet deal as well. Robinson is a good defender and has three-point range. If a second round pick is all it takes to get him, it'll be great.

that trade would be pathetic, especially since Swift has been contributing as of late.

I like Jackson. He's very solid, but trading our only athletism to get back another undersized PF isnt gonng do anything but make is identical to last years team. If we trade Swift, it'll have to be somebody as athletic.

He's 6-10, and plays a lot more gritty and stronger than Juwan Howard. The reason the Nets aren't playing him is because they have a better defender on the team with Collins until the got injured. Other than that, it sure beats me. In fact, there was a newspaper article from where I am (Morning Call) that talked about the Nets not using him and how Jackson's prepared for every game.

Swift has too much potential to be traded now, especially since he's been living up to some of that potential recently. Plus, why would the Rockets trade him so soon after they signed him? It's not going to happen.

Jackson and a 1st rounder is probably more than Swift is worth. You have to be a smart player to play in JVG's system, and Swift isn't that. Jackson gives you guys some much needed toughness, and a 1st rounder is a bonus. Jackson is a good player, look how he played for Philly, but he can't fit in with Jersey's offense-much like Swift can't do in Houston. A change of scenery could benefit both.

one word...... stupid.... we just need to coach swift to learn how to get good position and rebound without commiting fouls and shoot a midrange jumper, then he would definitely start. I like his ability to drive and draw a few fouls plus hes a good shotblocker, he can be good we just need to let him get more used to the system and become more consistent... Im not giving up on him yet...
