<div class="quote_poster">Quoting ilive4ball:</div><div class="quote_post">One more thing- anyone else notice how both Kobe's career high in pts (His previous was 56) he did n only 3 qtrs? Just thought that was funny</div> Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. He's the most explosive scorer since MJ. Actually, when he gets on one of his hot streaks, he might even surpass Jordan in his shot-making abilities.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Chutney:</div><div class="quote_post">That was one of the best displays of simply taking over a game I've ever seen. The next leading scorer on the Lakers was Odom with 6. And it wasn't even like Kobe was on fire: he was just money with whatever he did.</div> No it was Chris Mihm that who had 9. Since I forgot to look at the recap I think Smush Parker had 7.
What amazes me about this performance also is that Phil Jackson sort of called him out in loss against the Rockets. He said Kobe wasn't being aggressive enough in the fourth quarter. And obviously Kobe was ticked off by that game. His ability to bounce back from that and just will himself to an historic night is just awesome. And Dallas plays pretty good defense against wing players also (see this), but they have no answer for Kobe. I'm rooting for Miami in the Christmas game, but man I hope Kobe can come up with an encore performance.
Can you say GOD? That goes down as one of the top five Laker games I've ever seen in my life. And not only did he score 62 points but he added 8 rebounds. If I read or hear any negative criticism towards Kobe I'll probably go nuts. You can't say anything bad about this performance.

That belongs mainly to Odom, he's the one that's supposed to be running the offense. Plus, when you drop 62 and account for 60% of your teams offense, I'm pretty sure it won't matter whether or not you get an assist.

When you're able to outscore a team all by yourself, who cares if you don't get an assist?
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting durvasa:</div><div class="quote_post">Yeah, I know. When you're able to outscore a team all by yourself, who cares if you don't get an assist?</div>My thoughts exactly. Glad you agreed. Plus, did it matter that he didn't get an assist? Sure, that part of his stat box might go down by .1 or .2, but it doesn't matter. He was singlehandedly beating the Mavericks through three quarters, and hell, who knows, had he not been pulled in the 4th, he might have been able to outscore them the entire game. So, ususally I'd like to see 5 or 6 assists from him, but not tonight. When you're shooting as great as he was, don't give it up, just keep shooting if they're dropping for ya.
It would have been kind of cool if Kobe played the fourth quarter and outscored the Mavs all by himself. I don't think that's ever happened in a game. Wilt poured it on the Knicks in his 100-point game, even though it was a blowout. Too bad everyone's all sensitive these days about "respecting" the opponent. Even in the 80s people didn't make as big a deal about it. When Bird scored his career high (I think it was in '85 or '86) of 60, the Celtics were fouling the opposing team trying to get Biird extra shots at it. If you're a basketball fan, you want Kobe to have played in the fourth quarter and possibly go for 80. But the media would have used it as an excuse to attack Kobe's character. Sigh.
dam. thats amazing. but props out to T-mac when he did this, he had more of a complete game with 62pts,10 reb,and 5 assist. While Kobe had 62 pts,8 reb,3 steals, and 2 TO. But i guess if Kobe played in the 4th quarter then he would have more of a complete game and probably would have scored more,to bad he didnt.Amazing performance by Kobe, best player in the league.
dude all of u guys need to shut up with that no assist BS, Kobe is the ****, name any other player who could have done what he did today, only 3 quarters LMAO, wowzers, Kobe haters bow down and accept the fact that kobe is the best, PERIOD. NUFF SAID i agree with that guy, MVP, MVP, MVP!!!
^^ stuff like that is what gives us Laker fans a bad name.. Kobe had a phenomenal game, one for this history but there is no need to rub it in.. Any basketball fan, hate or love Kobe, will agree this is one for the history books. 62 points in 33 minutes? Can't do it much better than that. But like I said, no reason to bring in the "no one else in the league can do this" because you never know what someone else out there can do, or can't do.
ok how am i giving a bad name?I am simply saying that these guys shouldnt come in here pointin out he had no assists when the guy scored 62 points in 33 minutes and if they are going to say stuff like that to piss us off, KOBE and LAKER fans, then i am gonna say whatever i can to piss them off.
I love the kobe haters coming in here bashing him after that great performance. It sorta gets pathetic at the point where they gonna bash him for something so stupid. The lakers dominated the whole game kobe dominated the whole game. No one complained when Jordan or Wilt did stuff like this. Just sit back relax!

Phreeze, chill, you know what BigBalleR8 is trying to say. I consider myself one of the biggest Kobe fans (but then again who doesn't?) I think I get more upset when someone disses Kobe than dissing my mom, hah. Anyways, man did I have fun watching this game, me and my friend were loving every minute of the Kobe show. I gotta admit, at first I was so upset that Kobe didn't play the 4th, but you know what, now I'm really happy he didn't. Like one dude said earlier, the media would have been ALL over his ass and criticized his character and all that crap, and we all know how everyone LOVES to hate Kobe. But now, Kobe just went out of the game on top. No need to even play 4th, cuz everyone knows he could have easily played the 4th and shattered all types of records, but to be able to score that many points at this point in time in 3 quarters, was unheard of. And what a joke, why are Kobe haters even posting in this thread? Like any other game, if Kobe didn't have an assist, I say sure, Kobe doggy, you being a little selfish, pass the ball. But this obviously was something else. This cat single-handedly MENTALLY BROKE DOWN the 3rd best team in the NBA. In poker terms, he basically put the Mavs on TILT, like never before. That is truly remarkable. And like dude said before, Kobe is a shooting guard first of all, he is not a point guard, that's MAINLY Lamar and Smush's responsibility, but of course the whole part of having the triangle run around Kobe is so when he does get double or tripled team, he can dish out to his team so they can make the shot and he'll get an assist, and lately the rest of the Lakers have been doing a good job of drilling the shot when Kobe passes it to them. One last thing, look how Kobe played last game against the Rockets, in my opinion, he was playing a little TOO UNSELFISH, and I truly believe we would have won the game if he had taken control at certain points, but then again, I thought that Kobe did his part, and the real blame should be on Odom, our "supposed" 2nd leading scorer(what a joke) Either way, Kobe will get the blame for something someway, and fans will continue to hate no matter what he does. Kobe, you truly are the best bro, and it's games and moments like these that make me proud to be a fan, and to be one of the few to say this man will be the next Jordan, TALENT-WISE. 1
From Elias: <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> Bryant played only 33 minutes. Since 1960, only three other NBA players scored 60-plus points in fewer than 40 minutes: Jerry West (63 points in 39 minutes on Jan. 17, 1962), George Gervin (63 points in 33 minutes on April 9, 1978) and Karl Malone (61 points in 33 minutes on Jan. 27, 1990).</div>
That was one of the craziest things ive ever seen. 62 points in a game is crazy. 62 points in three quarters is just....30 points in a quarter is something ive never seen before, thats crazy. Not passing the ball one time for an entire period is also something ive never seen before.
lol, if someone told me the Lakers could beat a team, better yet the Mavericks, with only one player in double digits, I would have laughed at them, what a great day for every Laker/Kobe fan. Are you guys still bringing up the passing/assist issue? You guys really need to get over it, think about it this way. In the 3rd quarter, the lead was so large, the Lakers, Phil Jackson, and Kobe knew that he was probably not going to play in the 4th quarter, so he wanted to make the most of it while he still he could, which is why they just passed the ball to #8 and watched him do what he does best. The fact that he had put the Mavs on FULL TILT didn't help either.... Haters don't bother me anymore, really they don't, we all know by the time this man's career is done (and believe it or not, I still don't believe he has hit his prime, either this year or the next in my opinion) that #8 <u>></u> #23 and that goes for everyone who's held/holds that number... =) Love live #8

When someone disses Kobe I go off on them and get pissed as hell. Anyways- 62- 3 qtrs....it's better that way, it leaves what might have happened had he played the 4th up to imagination. He left the game on fire, drilling his last 3 and his team in command- not to mention the great FG%. Let's hope the Lakers keep these winning ways up
