What is more amazing? Kobe's 62 point in 33 minutes offensive torching of the Mavericks; or the fact that no matter what this guy does he gets criticised for it? I for one am amazed at what he has done so far this season. He takes a band of second rate players playing together pretty much for the first time and keeps them in playoff contention in the harder Western conference. He single-handenly pulls off wins for the team against superior teams. He goes off on explosive mind blowing offensive stretches that any basketball fan would be glad to watch. He hits game winners and clutch shots. He draws double, triple, and quadruple teams. He plays hurt. He takes a beating and keeps playing. He trains hard and comes into camp in better shape than anyone has seen him. He is leading this Laker team to a possible playoff berth with less talent than Dwayne Wade has around him or similar talent to what T-Mac had in Orlando... Yet Kobe still apparently does not make other players better... He is still a selfish-ballhog... he is still uncoachable... I can't believe after his 62 point barrage I am seeing comments about his 0 assist stat line!!! Seriously, what does the guy have to do to get his due credit!?
bro, I feel your pain, what can we do? I swear, you would think we get paid for how much it bothers us when people hate Kobe...whenever someone talks sh!t about him, it like really hurts me inside, lol. When makes me more proud is that you're from Cleveland and you're a Kobe fan, nice! Anyways, let people hate dude, what can you do about it, I kinda enjoy arguing with people and proving them wrong and showing why Kobe is so DIFFERENT than other players and has something special about him that no other player in my opinion has about him since Michael Jordan. Not AI, Tmac, LeBron, these cats are REALLY GOOD, but I still just don't see them at the same level of Kobe, and I guess that's just something Kobe fans see. What really apalls me, when the haters see a game like this, doesn't the thought of "wow, this guy really is amazing" cross their mind at just one point of time? Yesterday against the Mavs, while watching the game, I totally lost track of everything else going on in the game, when he was shooting those techncials and stealing the ball and taking it to the court, I didn't even notice they were winning by 30+, I was just amazed by what he was doing and how Dallas had NO answer for him. Man I can talk about this subject for hours but forget it, if they hate him but still give him his props fine, but if they just say "KObe sucks" then I get mad, real mad, lol.
Oh, one last thing before I go... My girl's little cousin who is like 12 or so, says "Kobe is a ball hog, he sucks" Then I asked her "oh ok,,let me guess, he's a Jordan fan right?" And she says, "yeah he's a huge Jordan fan." What bothers me about this, this kid is 12 years old, NEVER EVEN SEEN JORDAN PLAY, yet he is a fan and Kobe is a "ballhog", what a joke, it's like loving Jordan is just the cool thing to do, and hating Kobe is the way to go. Why do people love Jordan so much more than Kobe? Off the court if you don't like the man, fine, but on the court, GIVE HIM HIS DAMN PROPS. Phreeze, to think kobe shot 58% percent of the field, and THE AMOUNT OF DIFFICULTY of all those shots he made is amazing, those weren't little open jumpers he got, to shoot that well with those shots it's amazing.
KOBE ... KOBE ... KOBE! What a performance by #8 last night, he outscored the Mavs 62 to 61 after three quarters. He was unstoppable last night and sent a message to his teammates and the league by droppint 62 points in 33 minutes. Kobe Bryant got it going early by just out hustling everyone for offensive rebounds and then cashing in on second chance opportunities. Then in the 3rd quarter he scored 30 points alone and the Lakers blew the game wide open. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">"It's a great feeling, to do it here at Staples Center in front of our fans -- kind of an early Christmas present to them," Bryant said. </div> Good man. I'm just anxious to see what he has in store for the Heat. And by the way ... His total was the highest in Staples Center history, surpassing the 61 points Shaquille O'Neal scored against the Clippers on March 6, 2000 -- O'Neal's 28th birthday. As for the haters, let them hate. I think Stu Lance said it best last night. "Kobe is one of the all-time greats, like him or not, just appreciate being a part of it. People seem to take Kobe for granted .... we're spoiled by Kobe." Video download of Kobe's career night now available in the Lakers Skybox.
All of the people that hate on Kobe are mad because they still believe that Kobe was the influence to the Shaq trade...and if so...so what? If you notice all the Shaq haters didn't give a crap about the Heat and all the sudden they are big fans.. well its all good because those people are the type that jump on the vanwagon....and all of the them don't know about basketball....Kobe is beginning to raise to another level..to the Jordan level.....you may call Jordan His Ariness, Lebron the King, but Kobe is the 8th wonder of the world and soon to be the GOD of Basketball.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Fiyah:</div><div class="quote_post"> Yet Kobe still apparently does not make other players better... He is still a selfish-ballhog... he is still uncoachable... Jordan was selfish as well at times. He had his games where he had something to "prove," and he usually took an exorbitant number of shots to do it. My only problem with Kobe's game is the degree of difficulty in his shots some times. When they go in, great. But often, it seems like he's taking really tough shots just to show how cool he is. Like that left-handed three-pointer. Or some ridiculous 22 foot turnaround from behind the backboard. Hey, McGrady does it a lot too (he might be even more guilty of it). But Kobe, more than T-Mac, has the ability to penetrate into the lane and get off a shot almost at will, and sometimes he forgets that.
why did kobe not play in the 4th quarter? if they let him play he could of gotten atleast 70 points or even more. that would of been amazing. although 62 points in 3 quarters is pretty amazing itsself.

Kobe said it's Jackson's decision, and Phil responded that it's a blowout. Kobe agreed and decided to sit it out. Maybe Phil was testing him? Whatever, any basketball fan would want Kobe to have come back and go for possibly 80 (only one time has that happened -- in the "100-point game"). Plus, Leron Profit wouldn't have gotten injured for the season. But Kobe would have been torn apart by the media for being "selfish".
It's better he did'nt play the 4th. This way the rest is up to imagination. Who knows- maybe he was just heating up and would've gone for 40 in the 4th....maybe he would've cooled off and put a damper on his career night. This way, no one can argue it was a classy move by Kobe, they can attack his motives all they want but they can't take away the fact that he is something special whether they like it or not. The way I look at it :People always hate who's on top. Critics hate Kobe because it's obvious he's the best player in the game, so they have to work to find nuances in his game that don't meet their out of this world standards. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Kobe is so DIFFERENT than other players and has something special about him that no other player in my opinion has about him since Michael Jordan. Kobe's young: he'll definitely have the chance to score more than 60 points again and, IMO, breaking records will mean more when the game is close and the team needs him on the floor. I thought before that if the Lakers made the playoffs, Kobe would be an easy MVP vote. The way he's handled the pressure and criticism and the crappy play of his teammates, he should be given MVP if the Lakers aren't one of the worst 10 teams in the league.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">he should be given MVP if the Lakers aren't one of the worst 10 teams in the league.</div> You don't know how much I've said something along those lines about about Iverson & Sixers, but reality is if your team is not at least a Top 3 team in the either EC or WC you are not MVP worthy. Yeah I know it just sucks to see the best player on the team work so hard but with the lack of supporting cast they don't get the credit that they deserve, but again that's just reality and it's really sucks to see that, but it is what it is.

Do you really expect the person who had scored the majority of the points to have most of the assists aswell? If he is scoring everything, he can't be assisting everything aswell. What do you want him to do, pass to himself and count it as an assist? Perhaps, if you knew anything about the game, you would realise this.
What I find funny is that as soon as Kobe has an amazing performance like this ESPN already has two or three articles about how selfish Kobe is the next morning. I have never seen anything like this to that degree. A player doing something amazing and then the next morning they are callin him "ball-hoggin'est player in league history?" The same ESPN that was quick to say Kobe didn't want to play the 4th because of what would be said about his character if he did. Kobe knew going for the records wasnt worth possibly getting hurt in a blown out game, why can't we leave it at that? I just hate seeing such treatment by the media, because if LeBron would have put up the EXACT same number the articles up on ESPN front page would be "THE NEXT JORDAN"

What he's going through now (without Shaq aka HELP) I've been going through my whole career."- Allen Iverson on Kobe Bryant -- Jesus, people are still on that zero assist thing? ^. Wow.
i would like jordan to give an interview in which he says that kobe is playing on the same level he did once and that no one else in the nba right now can be compared to him because of his amating abilities!!
