<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">AP - Lakers swingman Laron Profit apparently ruptured his left Achilles' tendon in the fourth quarter of a 112-90 victory over the Dallas Mavericks on Tuesday night.

Lakers spokesman John Black said Profit would be examined Wednesday. Profit scored eight points in 15 minutes before being injured.

Profit was acquired by the Lakers from Washington during the offseason with Kwame Brown for Caron Butler and Chucky Atkins. The 28-year-old Profit has played in all 25 games for the Lakers this season and is averaging 4.2 points.</div>

Damn. I didn't think it was this serious when Profit injured himself. He's played the role Aaron McKie was supposed to fill for the Lakers. I have no idea how long these injuries take to heal, but if he's out for the year, the Lakers can activate Ronny Turiaf.

I was talking to my dad about this and he said that when a player ruptures their achilles tendon it's usually pretty serious. I did some research on this and here is what I found.

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The treatment options for a complete rupture of the tendon include surgery followed by casting, or casting alone. There are advantages and disadvantages to each technique and the options should be discussed with your physician. With surgery, the tendon is either reattached to the calcaneal bone (if it has been pulled off or avulsed) or the two ends are sewn together is the tendon has been torn in two. In most people, a cast is applied after surgery until healing is complete. Each patient must be considered individually. There are many reasons why a person may not be a suitable candidate for a surgical repair of the injury. These include, but are not limited to: poor circulation, presence of skin problems at the site of the injury, age, a sedentary lifestyle, other medical conditions that make the person a poor candidate for surgery (such as heart or lung problems). If the injury is treated non-operatively, then a cast is applied until healing is complete. The length of time required for healing is highly variable. Often it may take as long as six months for complete healing to occur.</div>

It says it often takes six monthes for it to heal but who knows how long it could take for a basketball player who is constantly using that muscle to heal. This doesn't sound good at all for the Lakers.

Expect Ronnie Turiaf to be activated Shape.

This is bad news, I like his play. He's a spark plug, I bet his season is done.

[IMG] Yup! I was curious to see how long this injury would take to heal, so I checked around some sites and got my answer. [IMG]

Damn, Profit played his role great this year. But, on the bright side, we can see Turiaf back in gold soon enough.
