This is gay just becuz Kobe scored 62 in a game he is considered the best player in our generation what about T-mac he scored 62 points and had like 5 or 6 assists unlike Kobe who had none don't get me wrong Kobe is a top 5 player but just cuz he scores 62 does'nt make better then Jordan, Iverson, or even Duncan.
Most talented player, I don't know. Vince before his injuries, was more talented than Kobe, he also had the total package in terms of talent, and could wow you in many ways. Even now with slightly less athletic abiity, he's still right there with him in terms of talent. McGrady, Lebron, Dirk, KG because of what he can do as a big man, and even Iverson can be argued to be equally as talented as Kobe is, or even more. I'm not sure if Shaq is considered "our generation", but he's been the most talented C of our time, and especially for his size, it's amazing some of the things he could do in terms of athleticism and mobility. A guy like Hakeem Olajuwon who I know isn't considered our generation because Jordan would obviously be the most talented guy is also a guy who's talent level was extraordinary.

To me personally, Vince would be a Top 5 player in the NBA right now if it wasn't for those injuries. Where would he rank amongst Duncan and Shaq, I don't know, but I think he would be the best perimeter player over the likes of Bryant and Iverson. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">McGrady, Lebron, Dirk, KG because of what he can do as a big man, and even Iverson can be argued to be equally as talented as Kobe is, or even more.</div> I wouldn't say AI is as talented as those guys, especially Kobe. Iverson is a skilled player and his game is based solely on his blinding speed. With his size and lack of strength if it wasn't for his speed he wouldn't be the player he is today. I also can't forget about his heart which is really the reason why he is "Allen Iverson", but for the most part I just don't think he is talented as Kobe, LeBron and T-Mac.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Heat4Life:</div><div class="quote_post">Most <u>talented</u>? LeBron.</div> That remains yet to be seen(conclusively), but I would definitely agree that he is one of the most talented players ever. His perofrmance at such a young age is absolutely astounding. But, is 'Bron and considered next generation? As for VInce, I think if he put a bit more effort into his game, he could easily return to form. As previously stated, he is right up there even after his injurues. As for AI, I think he ranks up tehre, but his size takes away from the skill he has. Back to the point of htis whole thread, I think Kobe is definitely one of the most talented players, but I don't think he is the MOST talented of htis generation.
IMO I think that Tracy McGrady is the most <u>talented</u> player of our generation. That doesn't necesarily mean the best. This guy if he wanted to could be the best in the NBA right now. I don't think his minds where it should be though. This guy is blessed with talent. Duncan is probably the best player overall of our generation though. LeBron is just an athletic freak.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Diesel:</div><div class="quote_post">LeBron is just an athletic freak.</div> Your post lost all credibility when you said that. Athleticism has nothing to do with passing and court vision, both of which are two things that he has.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting amador08:</div><div class="quote_post">Sure jose also Edwardo Najara > Duncan right?</div> Iverson is an accomplished MVP, and has carried his team BY HIMSELF to the NBA FInals against the Lakers. Kobe was just in Shaq's backpack the whole ride to all those rings. Iverson Lebron Kevin Garnett Shaq All are more talented than Kobe Bryant, they all have MVP potential. Give me Vince Carter over Kobe, atleast Vince passes the ball to 5th option guys, getting them invovled like Clifford Robinson
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting j0se:</div><div class="quote_post">Give me Vince Carter over Kobe, atleast Vince passes the ball to 5th option guys, getting them invovled like Clifford Robinson</div> Uh no. I give Vince all the credit in the world for leading the Raps to the ECF...in 2000 or '01 or whenever it was. He pretty much did that by himself. Since then he hasn't done anything. Passing the ball to 5th option guys makes him better than Kobe? If Kobe had three guys on his team that are as big of threats as Kidd and RJ I'm sure his 5th option would be as wide open as Cliff Robinson is (and actually, I would call Robinson their 4th option and Cristic/Collins their 5th).

How was Kobe in Shaqs backpack? They were both equal. Vince Carter is no better then Kobe. In fact, he comes behind T-Mac, Iverson etc...

That team was loaded with quality role players who brought it on the defensive end. It was the perfect mix of talent to surround a player like Iverson with. Let's also not forget that team had the DPOY and 6th Man of the Year and Coach of the Year.
If we are talking talent, and pre-injury Carter is allowed into the mix. Man that guy was an incredible athlete, if he had Kobe's or Jordan's work ethic, I think Carter probably was the most talented. Basketball is a team game so the contributions of an individual are not the most important aspect of the game. A team with a group of players that trust each other, work hard together like the Larry Bird, Kevin McHale + others Celtics will accomplish much more as a team than any individual can accomplish alone on any given team.

Yes that team was amazing on defense, but overall where would they be without AI? That’s the most amazing part about it. I could have said that about any other team, like where would X team be without player A? But a fan could easily say they have player B, and that's something Sixers didn't have in 01. As far as offense goes, he was a one man show. In the first round he had to go against the likes of Reggie Miller, Jalen Rose and Travis Best. Next in the 2nd Round he went against Vince Carter, Antonio Davis and Alvin Williams. And finally he had to go against a three headed dragon in Cassell, Allen and Robinson. So while I do agree that he did have help, on offense besides McKie he didn't have much to work with. From my knowledge out of every team in the past couple decades that went to the NBA Finals Iverson probably had the least to work with. In the first round against the Pacers they only won by a margin of 6 PPG. And remember they are a 1st seed going against an 8th seed. When was the last time you seen a 1st seed have to grind out a win against an 8th seed? Next you have the second round against the Raptors where it came down to a final shot in Game 7. And finally there was the series against the Bucks that also went to a Game 7. When you look at past/present 1st seed playoff teams they usually breeze their way through until they reach the CF or Finals in which they finally get some competition. But this Sixers team was just a bunch of role players with one young superstar. Again, granted that those were some quality role players, there are not many guys in this league that could have gotten nearly as far with that squad.

However, on the other side of the ball his teammates carried him. These guys did the dirty work to get the rebounds and fight for second and third chance opportunities so AI could score more. Having a tough interior defense also allowed Iverson to gamble more on defense leading to steals and easy baskets in transition. I just think Brown coached this team with a perfect balance and put his players in positions where they would excel.
But you can agree that probably out of any team, possibly in history that he had the least to work with? Like I said by no means he got that far alone, but that's as close as you can get to being alone and getting to where he got. So in a way he did single handely take that team to the Finals alone.
I'm going to say right now lebron is the best offensive player in the nba, better than kobe or iverson. Right now he is on the verge of becoming the first player since jordan in 91-92 to score 30ppg on 50%fg. Lebron can practically score at will, if you've seen some of his games. With his size and atleticism he causes so many matchup problems, too strong for the guards too quick for the power forwards. I believe what shaq is to centers lebron is to 2's and 3's, not to mention his all around game.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting SupraJames:</div><div class="quote_post">So in conclusion, MJ is the most talented player of my generation. Nobody else comes close. MJ is the most talented player. What happened to Kobe when you take Shaq away from him? OHHH! Thats right they don't even make the playoffs. Great post there SupraJames!

That Raptor team was almost as inept offensively as Philly then in terms of it being a one man show. Alvin Williams was decent at best offensively, though he was clutch, AD was a PF who shot guard percentages and had mechanical post moves. While McKie was probably the best other option in terms of creating his own offense, the Raptors had a decent amount of guys that could step up, AD, Oakley, Dell Curry, Alvin once in a while, and Childs had like one big game in the series, but he's not really a good scorer. Philly had McKie, Snow, Mutombo the black hole, J.Jones and Hill. Interesting times in the East back then...
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Diesel:</div><div class="quote_post">Do you think its easier to pass as an athletic freak or as a 600 pound man?</div> Chris Webber, Vlade Divac, and Brad Miller are all examples of big men that are/were great passers. Steve Nash and Jason Kidd are both example of players who aren't all that athletic but are great passers. So it goes both ways.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Avery:</div><div class="quote_post">When was the last time you seen a 1st seed have to grind out a win against an 8th seed?</div> Well, when Seattle was a #1 seed they got owned by Denver. I get your point though, usually those series end quickly.
