I thought this was kind of interesting. He rates a player's "performance" using John Hollinger's box score rating (which rewards for some categories and penalizes for others). Kobe's 62-point game ranks 8th overall. Might have gone higher if he played another quarter.

And I know, stats don't tell us everything about an individual's game, but it's still fun to look at.

    And how about the worst:

I mean, just absolutely hilarious, I'm laughing as I type this[IMG] When will you get it through your head that it didn't matter if he got assists last night? They won didn't they? Hell, not only did they win, they blew them out byt 22, without Kobe even touching the floor in the fourth. Assists aren't everything. He didn't have to have them last night, so why does it matter? The Lakers won and Kobe had a phenomenal game. Right now, it seems that you're the only person on this board that has been so critical about his lack of assists.

I would expect nothing less from a Sucramento Fan.

Nice team you got there. Still got a chip on your shoulder from all those rings Kobe/Shaq won over your "dream team".

Now now folks, let's not gang up on the Kings fan. They are savages, but at this point in their team's history, can you blame them?

This team had been trod upon as a doormat out west for years, then they get their shot, blow it, and aren't recovering in the forseeable future. Wouldn't you be a little TO'd too?

Believe me, my beloved Celtics aren't out winning any championships, but at least I have a glory day to look back on, the Kings don't even have that. Now let's cut him a break, realize that some hurts run a little too deep for even bitterness to heal, and remember that Kobe is a phenomenal talent, does have ball control issues, and that Jordan will always be superior. What's to argue with there?

Anybody remember that phenomenal game where Kobe proved he was the most hare-brained basketball player of our era, where all he did for the first half was pass? And Jax reamed him out, so he came out and won the game himself in the second half? Perhaps passing isn't his best bet, but man what a talent.

Check the list again. It's at the very top.

As for the no assist thing, Kobe was simply on fire. I didn't see the game, but my understanding is that everytime he had the ball in the 3rd quarter, he took it to the basket or attempted a shot. And if you can score 30 in the quarter all by yourself, who can blame you?

That said, obviously there was some ego involved there. All great players have it, so that's not so much a knock on him.

Sac fans............your days of winning are over. Sad to say.....not really. Stop hating on Kobe and accept the facts. We won three championships and I promise you we will win more. You guys one the other hand will sit down and watch us. After our rebuilding period is over..............The Lakers will take another win and this time, with Kobe as MVP of the Finals. [IMG]

And yet he is still on the top ten list of greatest performances ever and is the only active player on that list. All while not getting a single assist. Damn...

Look at what my man Hakeem pulled.

    Player---Date--Min--FG-----FT---Reb--Ass---St--TO--Blk--Pts---Score Outcome
    Hakeem-3/3/90-40--13/25--3/4---18---10----5---0---11--29----41.8--Win

    Hakeem 29p/18r/10a/11b/5s

Quadruple double, and just 5 steels away from a quintic double? Wow. Thats got to be top 3 most well rounded performances ever. I mean he didn't even get a single turnover. Yet caused 5 + how many his blocks caused.

Wow, I never thought my post would inspire this type of anger. Ive got nothing against Kobe, I actually cant decide if the best player in the league is Tim Duncan or Kobe Bryant. Anyhow, with all the ballhogging that had to go on for each player to get on that list I find it funny that Kobe is the only one who didnt manage to get an assist since ballhogging is the biggest criticism against Bryant. If we want to talk about the Kings then lets start another thread and we'll all talk about it, otherwise lets stick to the topic.

It's happened on four occasions -- Nate Thurmond, Alvin Robertson, Hakeem Olajuwon, and David Robinson. Robertson did it with steals, the rest did it with blocks.

David Robinson had 8 turnovers in his game, geez, that's a little excessive. I don't know how Shaq's isn't higher, 61 points, 23 rebounds, 3 assists, 68.6% FG, I think the crappy FT shooting brought him down. If Shaq could shoot FT's like the other guys, that would've been a 64-65 point game for him.
