Who can say? I think he'll make one heckuva basketball player though, once his team starts winning something.

That's my only problem with guys like Kobe or LeBron being called elite players, these guys haven't proven anything about winning to us, and if you ask me, that's paramount to being called a star.

You wanna be the next big thing? Beat Timmy's Spurs when it counts and I'll believe it.

And please don't say Kobe has done that, the only winner on that team was Shaq, and he's proven that again and again.

Please stop asking these types of questions, unless your gonna ask who's the next magic or larry or wilt as well, its annoying how everyone keeps bringing up MJ. There's only one of each.

What does it even mean, "the next MJ?" Obviously, they're not the same player.

I think Jordan has reached a status that, even if another player comes along that's "better" than him, most people would never admit it. If the question is whether or not LeBron will reach the same level of popularity, my answer is no.

They'll never be another Jordan man. Someone will exceed Jordan's greatness before their is a next. Lebron James will exceed Jordan in his own right, and their won't be another Lebron after he's gone. That's how I think it is.

Well I can't say Lebron will exceed him but he has the potential to.

No he isn't. If anyone is going to be the next MJ (and by that I mean have MJ's type of game) it is Dwyane Wade.

what are u talking about, d-wade isn't in the same class as lebron or jordan in skill wise. But u dunno what u can say, for those who say well lebron doesn't have any rings, he has plenty of time for that cuz jordan got his first ring at 28 so bron has around 7 years to do the same, d-wade will no go as far as bron, does he have the same endorsement deals, bron has really no supporting cast compared to wade, and someone cannot say when this player beats this team they can be up there, but the truth is if u don't have a supporting cast in the nba u can't really do that much. Anyways thats my 2 cents. What do u guys think

First of all, yes Wade is on LeBron's level. Second, he was saying Wade is the better comparison because they had similiar styles when Jordan was around Wade's age (Jordan was a slasher, had a good mid-range jumpshot, but like Wade didn't have the 3 PT shot).

LeBron doesn't have a cast like Wade's, but he still has solid players around him (Gooden, Hughes, Big Z, Marshall etc).

Even if Lebron managed to win 6 champion ships with one team and be defensive player of the year a couple times he still wouldn't be the next MJ in my mind. When I watch him play, he doesn't remind of MJ at all. He's a combination of players. Which to me makes him his own man. MJ never crosses my mind when I watch him play.

^^I have to agree with you there. The only thing that i see as a similarity is that when i watch both of them i think that both of them are reallllly good, hah. But to be honest he won't be the next Jordan, but (not to sound cliche or anything) will be the first Lebron.

You hit it on the nail for me 30. As long as I`ve watched LeBron play, I just do not see any comparison that MJ had. They may bring the same kind of heart to the game. But playing similar-wise, I do not see it.

    The next MJ?

    Nextael Jordan. #23-2.

Anyways, I agree with the above posters that said D-Wade was the next MJ (game wise). He is growing into a lot of MJ's #s. FT's especially.

I hate when people say so and so is the next MJ when they mean it as if this player will be as good or better than MJ. Not going to happen.

6 rings man, count them. More than a handful and I'm out b!chz.

Lebron has a great supporting cast. You look at a lot of guys on Miami who are playing like Sh!t: Shaq's been injured, and even though he's back, he's at about 50%, they have had injuries up the @$$, and have had a coach change, and have yet to gel. Somehow they are still winning games. Cleveland has Damon Jones and Donyell coming off the bench! Those guys are starters on any other team. Don't try and tell me Lebron has a worse supporting cast than Wade, because its a lie.

I'll say it again, nobody will ever be like MJ, because he's is own player, but Wade probably has the closest game in comparison than any other player right now.

Miami has Gary Payton, Antoine Walker, and now Alonzo Mourning coming off the bench.

I think it's pretty silly to make a statement like "there will never be a greater player than Michael Jordan" in such a definitive way. Jordan wasn't perfect, and no one here can read the future.

Personally, I think it would kind of suck if we never saw a player that eclispes Jordan.
